World famous British department store Selfridges decided to celebrate the opening of new shoe galleries with something unusual and memorable. To create this most "unusual" duet was invited Lernert & Sander from the Netherlands, and the guys did not disappoint, decorating the shop windows of the department store with creative and humorous installations.
Logically, there should be shoes on display in a shoe store window, right? Lernert & Sander decided not to argue with logic, and each of the seven installations really depicts a pair of shoes. But it only depicts, because each piece was based on pieces of furniture and home appliances, which the creative duo turned into shoe models.
It will not be difficult to find a refrigerator, mixer, iron or bedside table in each of the pairs of shoes displayed in the showcase. But it should be noted that Lernert & Sander created more than just abstract models: each pair of shoes resembles shoes from famous fashion designers. Let's say mixer shoes are Alexander McQueen, a dishwasher sample is Chanel, a pair of sewing machines is Yves Saint Laurent, and an iron model is Stella McCartney. “We wanted to turn ordinary things into strikingly beautiful shoes,” the authors of the installation say. "Fashion-based humor is the perfect way to escape your daily routine."
The installation will be on display in Selfridges showcases until early November 2010.

Who taught the Russians how to make felt boots, and Why even maids of honor and emperors wore these shoes
In the established perception, felt boots are associated with Russian culture. But in fairness it is worth knowing that the prototype came to us with the Golden Horde. Felted footwear of those times did not resemble the felt boots known to us. Well, the recognizable one-piece felt boot spread in the Russian Empire only by the beginning of the 19th century. And this pleasure, I must say, was expensive. Not every peasant could afford to wear felt boots, and a groom with such a dowry aroused special interest in the circles of brides. Shaft

An apple from an apple tree: ugly parents and their beautiful children in an advertisement for an Arno mixer
There is an opinion that nature "rests" on the children of geniuses. It turns out that she endows not only with intellectual abilities every other time: it happens that she also selectively “bestows” beauty. A field of shoes and a grass of laces. Installation "Field" by Dominic Wilcox
It seems that the time is coming when manufacturers are beginning to understand that ordinary advertising rather annoys potential buyers than encourages them to buy a particular product. This means that you have to come up with something new, non-standard, creative, and advertising is gradually turning from a simple "engine of trade" into real works of art. One of them - the installation "Field" - in front of you
Shoes from Michel Tcherevkoff: shoes for real fairies
We all know that any, even completely unremarkable little things can inspire creative people to create masterpieces. In the case of Michel Tcherevkoff, such a trifle is the reverse side of the banana leaf. It is not known what this plant reminded the photographer or what feelings it caused, but it all ended with the creation of a collection of shoes, where each shoe or boot is made of elements of flowers or plants
