EXPO-2010 in Shanghai is not only an exhibition of scientific and technological achievements of different countries. It is also a testing ground for ideas. Including very creative ones. An example of this is the unusual installation Firefly, created by designers Kevin Kristen Riou and Vincent Moreau in order to diversify the competition for new ideas for street lighting.
We all remember the admiration we got when we were kids when we saw a firefly. This luminous insect at that time seemed to be something magical, mysterious, incredible. And it is precisely these feelings for both adults and children that the installation by Kevin Kristen Riou and Vincent Moreau should evoke.
And it's not for nothing that it bears the name Firefly ("Firefly"). This installation is a huge swarm of artificial "fireflies" arranged in various shapes. Moreover, this set of lights is not static, but interactive.
It reacts to the movements of people who pass by or even through it, and changes under this influence.
Of course, Firefly has no practical value in terms of street lighting. This is pure art, the creators of which, unlike many modern creative people, have not forgotten that art should, first of all, delight, surprise and delight.
