The oddly named French artist WK is known worldwide for his signature motion drawing technique - he paints strange people on walls, doors, cars, skateboards, paper and canvas: screaming men, sexy women, desperate clerks. Moreover, all the drawings are always large, all the characters are interconnected, and it seems that they are perfect reflections of the madness of the modern world structure.
The fact is obvious: most of the artists we know live in large cities, and mostly in megacities. Life in them will kill anyone. So this translates into quite crazy work: either some hostile young ladies, then a full-size photo of rooms for psychos, then something else. WK Interact also has a nerve running through all his work. As if all of his characters are experiencing a nervous breakdown exactly at the moment that WK captures.
Nevertheless, all these characters have one thing in common - they are all made in black and white. Regardless of who it is and where it is. Terrorists, screaming people, strange women, crazy clerks - the anomalous universe of WK Interact is full of different people.
WK Interact was born in 1969 in France. Now he lives and works in New York. As a child, the future nonconformist artist admires the human body in motion, which will then be reflected in his works. In most of them, he achieves the effect of movement, as if his characters freeze while running, or walking, or any other action. This is real madness in motion.
On the WK Interact site, each of his works is in a specific section, and their order is not random - the location of each character is ordered to the extent that they are interconnected. "Interrelation" (English Interact) - this word contains the secret of the artist's name. In the late 90s, he made a series of murals in the Manhattan area to show the chaos and bustle of city life. Since then, his work, including drawings on broken doors, can be seen in the best galleries in the world. By the way, the artist's works of such a plan were inspired by New York, one of the most bustling cities in the world.
A sense of fuss and speed is the key to understanding the work of WK Interact, and it is very possible that these works will make us think about whether we need to rush so, not knowing where we are all going. Or roll. Not too funny thoughts, but they nonetheless have attracted companies such as Nike, Adidas and BMW, with which the artist collaborates.
