It would be great to go out into the countryside for a week and live there, not in a tent as savages, but in a cozy house. Which is quickly assembled anywhere, does not show through and will stand for a long time, and even with a kitchen and a stove! A pipe dream? Partly, because you are unlikely to be allowed to build such a house where you want. But cozy houses that you can assemble during the day with your own hands, and even environmentally friendly, have already been invented by Danish craftsmen.
Inspired by Fuller's geodesic domes, architect Tari Thomsen and engineer Ole Vanggaard have created a range of easy-to-build, eco-friendly, energy-efficient homes. They called them “Easy Domes” or “Light Domes”.
The shape of such a domed house is called a “twenty-sided” house and has significant advantages over the designs of other prefabricated houses. It consists of several fastened hexagons, with the help of which the dome maintains comfort in every nook and cranny. Such a house can be assembled in less than a day from pre-assembled wooden structures, and for houses less than 150 square meters, no crane is needed - everything can be assembled by hand, with some tools. Moreover, the design of the house allows it to withstand the most extreme weather conditions, including the strongest gusts of wind and a meter thick layer of snow on the roof.
Inside the Easy domes there are three rooms - a living room and two bedrooms, as well as a bathroom and a kitchen, constructed from environmentally friendly materials. In addition, there are solar panels and a stove inside. Other sources of renewable energy are also available, which once again proves that such domes do not harm the environment. The exterior of the house is made of non-toxic pine and the roof is covered with beautiful grass.
The first dome of the Easy Domes series was erected in 1992 in the Faroe Islands and was used for short-term tourist vacations. Since last summer, mass production of such houses has been launched.
