No matter how great a person is, the only force with which it is very difficult for him to cope is the force of nature. Natural disasters occur with unenviable regularity in the world, in which humanity often fails. The United States can rightfully be called one of the countries that is in a constant "risk zone", and the Californian by photographer Mitch Dobrowner - a real genius of thunderclouds.

The legendary Katrina and the recently raging Sandy - what the Americans have not experienced. In 2009, Mitch Dobrauner became interested in hurricanes and storm clouds. It was then that he went on a journey along the famous tornado alley to the Great Plain (as the United States calls the area where the largest number of tornadoes are observed) to take the first pictures. Having traveled 19 thousand miles, he traveled to 14 states and captured a variety of natural phenomena.

Mitch talks with admiration about the power of the elements. Watching the hurricanes, he watches with bated breath how whirlwinds are born, gain strength, enter into battle with each other, and then “grow old” and die. Through his works, the photographer tries to convey the emotions that he experiences when facing nature face to face. Mitch's work was well-deserved, and in 2012 a series of photographs he took in Texas won first prize at the Sony World Photography Awards.

By the way, on our website Kulturologiya.ru we have already written about another photographer who is not indifferent to the "cloudy" theme: Chris Ellington's photographs capture the stormy sky over the American Great Plains.
