Argentine painter and sculptor Augusto Esquivel believes that even the smallest, everyday objects can be called works of art if used creatively and wisely. This is how he once used a whole box of multi-colored, different-sized buttons found in the attic. As a result, these amazing button installations and made the artist famous. The world of buttons, as interpreted by Augusto Esquivel, consists of flowers and trees, furniture and household items, portraits and human figures. The author compiles all these works from numerous threads, on which buttons of the desired color and size are strung in a certain order. Suspended from the ceiling, they form three-dimensional images that can be called sculptures, installations and even three-dimensional paintings.
The most famous sculpture by Augusto Esquivel, however, is considered Upright Piano … This is a huge picture of a piano made up of 30,000 black and white buttons arranged in garlands. The total weight of the sculpture is more than 20 kg, and the work on this project took the author about 2.5 months.
