Sometimes little things can make us think about serious, big questions and problems that were previously ignored for some reason, which were not paid the slightest attention. This is what unusual concerns Green project with the title Outside the Planter by Canadian artist Sean Martindale.
Not all artists strive to create huge, globally significant works. Many are engaged in cultural guerrilla - they do small, almost imperceptible creative things, which together give a new, better idea of cities, streets, and places where they are carried out. Examples include cozy and warm urban art by Mark Reigelman, knit decorations for urban details by Knitta Please, city within a city by German artist Evol, joy and gouging in street art by OaKoAk, and many others. similar works of art.
And the Outside the Planter initiative from Sean Mantindale, it would seem, is almost invisible to most passers-by. But, if a person does pay attention to it, then it will be a serious revelation for him.
After all, people almost do not notice small things (they do not always notice big things!), And, meanwhile, it is small things that can open their eyes to many global issues and problems. For example, the deterioration of urban infrastructure, the insufficient number of green spaces in megacities. In any case, it is precisely these two problems that Sean Mantindale decided to draw attention to with the help of the Outside the Planter project.
He turned to his friends and fellow artists with a proposal to slightly change the flower beds, street tubs with green spaces, standing on the streets of Toronto. And the very next day after the start of the Outside the Planter project, more than 30 mentioned city objects were slightly modified. Moreover, they were changed without destroying their existing structures, but with an emphasis on the changes that had already occurred before.
In general, the residents of Toronto, as well as the city authorities, will have something to pay attention to.
