What do people usually do with broken dishes? Of course, they throw it away: do not store it on the shelves, from time to time crying over the untimely departed grandmother's cup or the service presented for a wedding, housewarming or for another, no less solemn occasion. There is probably only one person who, nevertheless, prefers not to part with the pieces dear to his heart. This is the Chilean artist Livia Marin, who created an absolutely stunning art project using broken porcelain.
Libya's art project is called “Broken Things”, although in fact it is not only broken, this porcelain, but also melted. Yes, yes, as surprising as it sounds, all the broken saucers, ashtrays, cups and saucers look like they were passed through a hellish oven, causing their chipped edges to melt and spread over the surface of the table.
By the way, an interesting fact: in order to create her collection of broken-melted things, Livia Marin did not just take spoiled porcelain dishes. All of this is handcrafted and hand-painted, so the author had to do a lot of painstaking work before presenting his “Broken Things” to the world.
Today the art project is presented at the British Museum House of Propellers, the exhibition is curated by Cecilia Brunson, who calls the author of the collection "one of the most creative Chilean inventors."
