For five years, the Melbourne-based artist has worked for an educational multimedia company. However, after some time, Melissa realized that she did not like to be engaged in the development of the company's projects, but it was much more interesting to implement her own ideas and fantasies in her drawings. “I had to become an artist in order to be able to develop further,” explains our heroine.

“I paint women, because the woman herself, and this topic is closest to me,” - says Melissa. Plants are of interest to her for many reasons, and above all - because of their aesthetics. The artist specially read books on botany, as well as stories about how people risked their lives in order to find new types of plants and describe them. Melissa calls this view of the world romantic - and fully shares it.

The girl says that she likes the works of those artists who use elements of their national cultures in their works, so she tries to do the same. Melissa studies Australian flora and fauna and tries to display it in her paintings. In addition, the artist draws inspiration from vintage illustrations, Victorian paintings and contemporary fashion photography.
