A city of dreams, a haven for hearts in love, a seaport on the Adriatic coast, - Venice no wonder they are called the pearl of Italy and the most photographed city in the world. German photographer Jessica Backhaus also fell under the charm of this place, with its canals and gondolas, ancient architecture and fascinating history. However, unlike other photographers who snap the camera with their eyes up to the sky, Jessica's gaze is downward. " I Wanted to See the World"This is the name of a series of amazing photographs of Venice in the reflection of the Adriatic Sea. Venice is sinking, scientists say, and every year it becomes more noticeable. Venice is decrepit and dirty, say some tourists who are unable to see the exceptional beauty of the old city. But in the photographs of Jessica Backhos everything looks much more mysterious than one might imagine, and even notorious critics cannot but admit that such a Venice seems even more beautiful than it really is.
Not portraits of gondoliers and not couples in love on bridges between the canals, not palaces, churches and monuments, not sunrises and sunrises over the Adriatic Sea gave Jessica Baekhos creative inspiration. She was attracted by the other side of the city, the one that is reflected in the salt water of the canals. Like a crooked mirror in a room of laughter, water beyond recognition distorts the features of Venetian streets and alleys, transforming slender old buildings into abstract, blurred, twisted, smeared figures. However, even in this form, Venice remains itself: colorful, romantic, mysterious. Not like everyone else, especially beautiful.
Photographs-reflections, photographs-moods, brought by Jessica Baekhos from Venice, became part of the art project "I Wanted to See the World". More information about the project is on the photographer's website.

Returning to stories about the power of inspiration that nature gives to a creative person, one cannot fail to mention the role of the four elements.
