Every time we go on a trip, we strive to get a sea of impressions from the journey and rest, while stocking up with all sorts of souvenirs, tons of pictures against the background of local attractions and natural beauty, as well as kilometers of footage of footage, where life is in full swing on the big streets. and small, resort and historical towns. After all, these are the brightest emotions that you want to share with friends, relatives and acquaintances without further ado. But the Dutch photographer (Roman Robroek), continuing to break stereotypes, brings back stunning photographs with images, in which people lived not so long ago.
Despite the fact that devastation reigns around, and clouds of dust soar upward with each subsequent step, Roman's works are covered with soft, light and unobtrusive silence, as well as calmness, which does not press from all sides with a weight that causes mood and dislike for abandoned by God and time place. Each picture has its own special atmosphere, sometimes dramatic, as in the best genre films, and in places pacifying, as if you find yourself in a comfort zone, where you relax with your body and soul at the same time.
The sun's rays make their way through the dilapidated windows and multi-colored glass that are shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow, open by the wind, and young, but already sufficiently strong shoots sprout through the floor, finally breaking the tiles or boards. Cracked paint, hanging in tattered shreds from the shabby walls, gives the interior a touch of melancholy and sadness, as if it is upset by something, and the piano that has been slanted against its side, invitingly winking with keys that have turned yellow from time, offers to play the melody of an elusive moment. The steps leading upward with sliding burgundy upholstery keep many secrets and stories about how people scurried back and forth along them, hurrying about their business, freezing somewhere in the middle to catch their breath, while overhearing someone's quiet conversation. And George the Victorious, frozen with a spear in the Heroic House in Italy, is still fighting a serpent, while old books scattered on the floor rustle with flimsy pages in unison with the leaves outside the window …
Continuing the theme of the most unusual and mysterious places - - a city in which almost no one lives today.
