Julie Ricci makes fun of herself: "The mosaic masters are real magpies." They love shiny polished stones, bright materials and contrasting combinations. Perhaps, with such preferences, they have a direct road to the fashion industry. But what if you combine the art of mosaic with love for beautiful dresses, and even add some kind of conceptuality? The result will be the latest creation of Julie Ricci - "La Corrente" - a gorgeous sculpture dress made of Carrara marble, smalt, semi-precious stones and shells.
Artist Julie Richey lives in Texas and has been working with mosaics for over 20 years. Basically, she takes orders for interior decoration, but sometimes she sets out on a free voyage. The master claims that it is easier to cooperate with customers than to take full responsibility: both for the idea and for its implementation - on oneself: what if the masterpiece does not come out? But, on the other hand, this responsibility spurs the creator of mosaic masterpieces, forcing him to strive for excellence in work for himself.
The artist's initial lack of confidence in her abilities and innate modesty eventually gave way to a consciousness of her mastery. So, only after 10 years of practice, Julie Ricci decided to write in the column "Occupation" the coveted word "artist". And I wrote it for a reason. The jury of the international exhibition dedicated to the art of mosaic adheres to the same opinion. There Julie Ricci was awarded the first prize in the category of volumetric work for the dress "La Corrente" (translated from Italian - "flow").
What art outfits are made of! You probably remember the clothes made of leaves, flowers and ears, which we have already written about. And now - dresses made of stones.
The Flowing sculpture expresses the American woman's concern over environmental problems in the Gulf of Mexico. No, it's not about spilled oil at all. The algae depicted on the dress is a threat to the fragile ecosystem of the bay. Alien (or rather, alien water) vegetation was brought in by passing ships and grew terribly. An inexorable current brought the Invader - that's why Julie Ricci named her creation that way.
Julie Ricci has been working on the sculpture dress for two whole months, and it weighs almost 7 kilograms.

How ancient Greek sculptors changed the art of marble and bronze
Ancient writers call Scopas, Praxiteles and Lysippos the three greatest sculptors of the second half of the 4th century BC. This triad of contemporaries completely changed the character of Greek sculpture. The schools they founded, the developments they made in art, greatly influenced the history of sculpture and then the Italian Renaissance and, through it, modern art.
The short life and unhappy love of Princess Tatyana Yusupova: How the marble "Angel" appeared in Arkhangelsk near Moscow
The history of the marble "Angel" that adorns the quiet church garden in the Arkhangelskoye estate near Moscow began in the nineties of the 19th century, when the sculptor received an order and set to work. Or even earlier - when the girl was still alive, whose short biography served as a source of inspiration for the master. Tatiana Yusupova from birth was surrounded by love, very rich, brought up among connoisseurs of art. Still, it is impossible not to regret her: the life of one of the most enviable Russian brides was
Mosaic of stones and leaves: bright land art
Mikhail Prishvin wrote: “For some, nature is firewood, coal, ore, or a summer residence, or just a landscape. For me, nature is the environment from which, like flowers, all our human talents grew. " Indeed, nature is our wisest teacher, perhaps that is why land art is becoming an increasingly popular trend in art every year. Today we will tell you about the work of virtuoso Dietmar Voorworld, who creates wonderful installations from ordinary pebbles and leaves
Marble not like marble. Unusual sculptures-illusions by Fabio Viale
The once fashionable decor "under a tree", "under a stone", "under a marble" is no longer interesting. But to "disguise" real marble as foam, rubber, fabric, paper or wood, so that people have an irresistible desire to touch this or that work, in order to make sure with their own hands what they are made of - this is already a talent that you can't hide anywhere. And it would be a sin not to share these masterpieces with the audience. So, the Italian sculptor F
