Have you ever watched what the shadow does behind your back as you confidently step forward? Have you ever thought that a shadow can play tricks with you, fool around and grimace, while the person to whom it belongs looks serious and calm enough? Is it possible that the shadow is playing and making fun of its master? Quite, because the shadow often follows us, so who knows how it behaves there. Everything is possible in this world!
Brooklyn-based photographer Katie Sokoler and a friend named Mat created a very fun and positive shadow game project. For weeks, Katy and Mat traced their silhouettes on a huge roll of black paper to be cut and pasted on the walls of houses and pedestrian crossings all over Brooklyn. Funny pictures of a girl with balloons, a mischievous boy standing on his head, a superhero came to life whenever pedestrians passed by. Katie was waiting for the exact moment when a bystander would merge with an artificial shadow to take a picture. The guys turned out well, I think.
When Katie Sokoler is asked to tell about herself, she admits that she is madly in love with making life fun and bright, with a sea of positive emotions. She draws inspiration from what she sees, does and creates something new every day.

All the beauty is gone. Mischievous ceramics painting by Grisha Morgenstern
