One of the residents of the Canadian province of British Columbia recently found a garden gnome stolen a year ago at the gate of her house. Together with the figurine, there was also an album with photographs from travels, which the dwarf had visited during this time.

A year ago, Canadian Bev Yorke was very upset when she discovered that a garden gnome had been kidnapped from her yard. But after about a year, the dwarf returned, with an album of his own photos. More precisely, it was returned by the kidnappers, who sent the gnome on a journey.

The garden gnome, named by the kidnappers Leopold, has traveled to Mexico and the United States. Visited Port Angeles, Baja California, and even "took" a selfie in the Grand Canyon.

The owner of the house admitted to reporters that she does not hold grudges against the kidnappers, because, apparently, love it with a rich imagination, a sense of humor, and they had to make great efforts to make such an interesting album.

The idea for the garden gnome traveler belongs to an Australian who traveled the world in the mid-1980s, and sent his neighbor photographs of the garden gnome, whom he took with him from the garden.

In the 1990s, such draws were very popular in France and Great Britain. And when Pierre Jeunet's film "Amelie" was released, this idea appeared in the mass media: they began to use it in computer games, TV series, and clips. The same idea was taken as a basis by the travel company Travelocity for their advertising campaign.

A video about the gnome's travels will be understandable even for those who do not speak English.

And in Italy, a whole holiday was dedicated to the gnomes and called it World Smurfs Day. On this day blue gnomes take to the streets of Rome.
