"Light Drift" is a temporary lighting installation created on the banks of the Shylkill River in Pennsylvania through the efforts of the collective Howeler + Yoon architecture … The piece consists of many luminous plastic balls, which are located not only on land, but also in water, and its appearance depends on the interaction with the audience.
The installation is interactive and involves direct interaction with the audience. When the balls are at rest, their color is deep green. As soon as a person begins to approach them, the ball begins to pulsate between green and blue. If the viewer decides to sit on the ball, then the pulsing will stop and the ball will turn blue. But the interaction continues further: the balls on the ground are connected with certain balls in the water, and as soon as any changes take place on the ground, this will immediately be reflected in the water half of the installation. Thus, in order to create an original drawing on the water, people on land must interact not only with the balls, but also with each other.
One should come to the river bank and admire the installation only at night: during the day, white balls floating in the water will hardly amaze anyone's imagination. But illuminated from the inside in the evening and at night, these "lanterns" create a truly magical and festive atmosphere.
The opening of "Light Drift" took place on Friday, October 15th, but everyone who wants to admire the magical spectacle should hurry up: the installation will exist for only three days. It is assumed that in the future the balls will be used again - a little later, a similar installation should appear in Boston.

The River of Times and the World Tree: Conceptual Project by Keith Lemli "Nothing and Something"
