Smithsonian Magazine has announced the winners of its 11th Annual Photo Contest. The competition was attended by authors from 132 countries of the world, who submitted about 50,000 photos to the jury. The works were sorted into 6 categories: The world of nature; Trips; People; America; Photos processed using a filter and pictures taken with mobile gadgets. As a result, each category has 10 images from different authors.
Now readers of Smithsonian magazine should decide the fate of the 60 selected photos by choosing a photo they like on the magazine's website. Voting will last until May 6. Each person can vote no more than once a day. As a result, there should be 7 works: one in each category and the winning picture.
Talking about photo contests, one cannot fail to mention the National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2014. This contest started on March 18 and will run until June 30 this year. The winner will receive the main prize - an 8-day trip to Alaska as part of a scientific expedition. Several thousand photographers from all over the world have already submitted an electronic application along with ready-made photographs, except for the residents of Cuba, Iran, New Jersey, North Korea, Sudan and Syria, who, according to the rules of the competition, are not eligible to participate.
