2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-12-15 23:55
Many young people dream of a career in show business and fame. But the harsh reality is that fallen popularity is not at all like a rainbow dream. Wealth and millions of fans around the world - not everyone can cope with this. Alcohol and drug addiction, a dissolute lifestyle, violation of public morality - this is not a complete list of what happened to children who became stars at a very tender age.
1. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan, born in New York in 1986, was first recognized by the public for her role as twins in The Parent Trap. Then she became very popular with the films Freaky Friday (2003) and Mean Girls (2004). However, the fame clearly had a bad effect on Lindsay. As the girl grew older, she became a frequenter of New York nightclubs, and her life quickly turned into a flood of negative advertisements in the tabloids.
In 2007, Lohan was arrested after she crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a tree. Two months later, she was arrested again for not stopping at the request of the police (it turned out that she had cocaine with her). The actress served only four days in prison and was released on bail. Later in 2007, Lohan underwent rehabilitation, and when she left the rehabilitation center, she said that now she wants to always remain "in a clear mind."
But only a few years have passed since Lohan was again caught driving while drunk, after which she did not appear at the hearing and was sentenced to 90 days in prison (she served 14 days). In 2011, she was charged with stealing a necklace from a jewelry store. Lindsay recently opened Lohan Beach House on the Greek island of Mykonos and a second on Rhodes.
2. Amanda Bynes
Amanda Bynes appeared in her first commercial at the age of seven, after which she began performing with the local comedy theater in performances such as Annie, Garden of Mystery and The Sound of Music. After that, she starred in the Nickelodeon TV series "Sundries," while also launching her own program, The Amanda Show. Since then, her success has continued to grow steadily. The girl has starred in several roles, including her role as Holly on the WB series "Why I Love You." Unfortunately, fame "hit" her in the head, and soon Amanda discovered that her face was printed in all the tabloids not because of her talent.
Shortly after her "retirement" in 2012, Amanda Bynes crashed her car into a police car. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. After two more accidents, her license was taken away and her car was confiscated. In 2013, Bynes was arrested for drug use in her lobby in New York after reports of her throwing a bong out a window. Later that year, she lit a fire near the driveway to a California home and was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital, from where she was transferred to a rehab center.
In 2014, things seemed to be working out. But soon after she got her license, Amanda was arrested again for drug driving and taken to a psychiatric clinic. Luckily for Bynes, she finally managed to overcome her addiction and take an interest in other hobbies - she enrolled in a fashion design school.
3. Britney Spears
Britney Spears was born in December 1981 in Mississippi, and at the age of 11 she appeared on the screens, starring in the show "The Mickey Mouse Club". In 1995, she focused on her musical career and released her first single, "Baby One More Time".
In 1999, the single reached the top of the charts after the release of the scandalous video with Britney in a revealing outfit. Over the years, Britney Spears has tried to abandon the established image of an innocent girl and build a "mature" career. In 2004, Spears married a childhood friend and then annulled the marriage a few days later. A few months later, she married her backing dancer Kevin Federline, who dumped his pregnant girlfriend for Britney. In 2005, they announced that their first child would be born in April of that year. Since then, the singer's life quickly rolled down.
In 2006, she was caught driving a car with her son on her lap. This led to the fact that the press questioned whether she could raise children. Britney was also accused of sending threatening messages to her fans, despite the fact that she tried to justify herself and stated that she was just trying to get rid of the paparazzi. Britney gave birth to her second son just two months before filing for divorce from her husband. She then began to appear increasingly on the club scene and reportedly became addicted to drugs. In 2007, Spears shaved her head and went to rehab. After treatment, she released several more singles, once again visited the hospital, and still managed to return to the big music scene.
4. Brian Bonsall
Brian Bonsall was born in 1981 in California and grew up among Hollywood actors from early childhood. From 3 to 14 years old, he played roles in various shows and films, including Family Ties, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Open Check.
In 1995, Bonsall took a break from filming to attend high school in Colorado. There the boy developed a real passion for punk music. He began performing in punk bands such as Late Bloomers and Thruster. Unfortunately, around that time his life changed for the worse and Brian was arrested for drunk driving. In 2007, he was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and pleaded guilty. This led to a two-year suspended sentence.
However, Bonsall's problems did not end there. Between 2007 and 2010, he was arrested several times for illegal substance use and assault. In 2009, he beat a friend with a broken wooden chair while intoxicated, and was sentenced to 2 years. Segolna Brian lives in Boulder and pursues a career in music, playing guitar with the local punk rock band Lowjob, as well as performing in the duo Bootjack & Bonz.
5. Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore was born in 1975 and at the age of six she played a role in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster "Alien". Her career blossomed in the 1990s when she starred in Poison Ivy, Crazy About Guns, Bad Girls, and Side Guys. During this time, Drew's character portfolio grew every year, and she was invited to several films every year. She became one of the most talented actresses of her generation.
However, Drew Barrymore's life has not always been cloudless. At the age of nine, her mother began taking Drew with her to nightclubs, which the alcoholic father did not pay attention to at all. It was then that young Barrymore became acquainted with drugs and alcohol. When she was only 13 years old, the girl brutally attacked her mother, trying to drive her out of the house. As a result, Drew was placed in a rehabilitation center. After a subsequent suicide attempt, she underwent another course of rehabilitation and returned home at age 14. To try and start living again, she successfully applied for emancipation at age 15 and moved into her own apartment with a job at a local coffee shop.
Drew made another controversial act at the age of 19, starring naked for Playboy magazine. After that, Steven Spielberg sent Drew a twentieth birthday blanket and photoshopped magazine pictures of Drew in clothes. After that, Drew already led the "right" life and became extremely successful in the film industry.
6. Shia LaBeouf
Born in 1986 in California, Shia LaBeouf is best known for his lead role as Sam Whitwicky in Transformers. He started his career as an actor doing a stand-up comedy show in his hometown, but then a friend convinced him to try his hand at the film industry. In the end, Labeouf succeeded, and in addition to being successful in Transformers, he won the Daytime Emmy Award for his role in Rock with the Stevens.
Few people know that the actor had a very hectic childhood and youth. He was born into a poor family and was often mentally and verbally abused by his substance abuse father. This could not but affect later life. In 2005, at the age of 19, Labeouf was arrested and charged with assault after threatening his neighbor with a kitchen knife. The actor then stole and hid his neighbor's car, claiming that it blocked his way to the garage. In 2007, he was arrested again after the actor refused to leave Chicago's Walgreens pharmacy. After this incident, Shia did not appear in court and was fined $ 500.
He was involved in a car accident shortly thereafter and it took three surgeries to restore his arm. It turned out that Shia was driving drunk, and his license was taken away. Since then, he has been arrested several more times for disorderly conduct and assault. Unfortunately, the last time Labeouf appeared in the media, it was due to accusations of plagiarism of three novels he wrote.
7. Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato, who was born in 1992 in Albuquerque, got her first role as child star Demi Lovato at the age of 10 in the TV series Barney & Friends. After starring in various TV shows for 6 years, she was offered the lead role in Camp Rock: A Musical Vacation. It was during these filming that Demi became interested in music and decided to try herself as a singer.
Since then, she has combined the careers of film actress and singer, acting in films and releasing albums, and her popularity has grown steadily. But what was behind it all. While touring with the Jonas Brothers in 2008, Lovato became addicted to cocaine. Subsequently, she admitted that she could not spend more than an hour without coke. Because of this addiction, she began to carry drugs with her even on planes, making paths for herself right on the armrest of the seat, while neighbors were sleeping, or she used cocaine in the toilet. Despite the growing problem of substance abuse, Demi was still compassionate. In 2009, she teamed up with Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas brothers to record a single and donate all the proceeds from it to charity.
In 2011, Demi Lovato admitted that she had a problem and turned to rehabilitation, where she was treated for bulimia, self-destruction and “self-medication” with drugs and alcohol. During rehabilitation, the actress was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After completing her treatment, she detailed her experience in Be Strong: 365 Days a Year, in an effort to help other young people fight drug addiction.
8. Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber was born in 1994 and raised in Ontario, Canada. As a teenager, he was always interested in music and learned to play several instruments, including guitar, drums, piano and trumpet. The future star's career essentially began when his mother started posting Justin's videos on YouTube.
The number of subscribers grew steadily, and in the end, his video caught the attention of the talented agent Scooter Brown. The agency helped young Bieber to sign a record contract. His first single "One Time" was released in 2009 and became a worldwide hit. This was followed by the release of the debut album "My World", which was also successful all over the world. However, the fame "hit" the teenager in the head, and his behavior became questionable. He first had problems with the law in 2011. The woman filed a lawsuit claiming that the 17-year-old star is the father of her child. Fortunately, DNA tests proved the pop star's innocence, and the lawsuit was quickly dropped.
But that was only the beginning. As if from a cornucopia, complaints about the dangerous driving of Bieber's car fell down. Later that year, Bieber made headlines again after his phone was filmed publicly peeing and shouting insults at former President Bill Clinton. In 2014, Bieber was arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs and for resisting arrest.
9. Aaron Carter
Aaron Carter, brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, was born in 1987 and followed in his older brother's footsteps with a career in the music industry. At the age of seven, Aaron began performing as the lead singer of the Dead End band, and 2 years later he opened for the Backstreet Boys. This performance earned him a record deal, which led to the release of Aaron's first single "Crush on You".
In 1997, his first album was released, which received gold in Norway, Spain, Denmark, Canada and Germany. His next album, Aaron's Party, was released in 2000 and was also a huge success. After that, he also began acting in films such as Lizzie Maguire, Sabrina the Little Witch and Seventh Heaven. But behind this success, scandals began. In 2008, Carter was arrested for speeding in Texas and police found marijuana in his car. In 2009, Carter won a spot on Dancing with the Stars. However, stage fright caused him to become addicted to Xanax, which he used to ease his anxiety.
Three years later, already addicted to a prescription drug, he agreed to go to a rehab program. The reason for this was the death of his sister from a drug overdose. In 2013, Aaron filed for bankruptcy to get rid of $ 3.5 million in debt. Now he has started a new life.
10. Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin is one of America's most famous "star children." Born in 1980 in New York, he first became acquainted with show business at the age of four, playing Bach Babies on the stage of the New York Philharmonic. At the age of 5 he appeared in an episode in the film "Midnight Hour", and at the age of 8 he starred in the films "Rocket to Gibraltar" and "See You in the Morning".
And in 1990, Macaulay got the lead role in the movie "Home Alone", thanks to which he became famous. At the age of 14, Culkin starred in several low-rated films, followed by skeptical headlines that the career of the child, who was the highest paid star of his age, was on the verge of waning. This led to Culkin's questionable behavior, which severely tarnished his once-perfect reputation. After the sequels to Home Alone, Macaulay began to claim that his father ruined his career. In fact, this was later confirmed as his parents were clearly more interested in their son's career than his life.
In 2004, Culkin was arrested for possession of 17.3 grams of marijuana and other psychotropic substances. After that, Culkin was literally "demonized" by the press for drug use, despite the fact that many other "star children" did it all the time. For some time, Culkin performed with the Pizza Underground, a parody of the Velvet Underground, and during this time he attempted suicide due to depression.
