For 10 years now, one of the attributes of the New Year's holidays has been Timur Bekmambetov's family movie almanac "Yolki" and its continuation. Although the director did not set out to make a film that could replace Irony of Fate on screens on New Year's Eve, his film found its audience, and the first Yolki became the leader of the domestic film distribution in 2010. However, this success had the opposite for the actors. side …
Five more directors worked together with Timur Bekmambetov on the first "Fir-Trees". Together they shot 9 short stories about stories that took place on New Year's Eve in different cities in 9 time zones of the country. Without claiming the status of a new New Year's movie symbol, the director still wanted to create a film that could unite the people of a huge country in the same way that they are united by this holiday. Judging by the box office in the first week of distribution, his expectations were justified: only for the weekend of December 16-19, 2010, the film grossed 209 million rubles, becoming the leader of the domestic film distribution. In total, the film grossed over 700 million rubles.
Timur Bekmambetov explained the success of his brainchild as follows: "".
Of course, the success of the film was guaranteed by the well-chosen cast: comedians Ivan Urgant and Sergey Svetlakov ensured the interest of a young audience, among whom they were already very popular by that time, and professional actors Arthur Smolyaninov, Sergey Garmash, Maria Poroshina, Alexander Golovin, Alexander Domogarov and others once again pleased me with a good level of acting.
The most important task of all the filming participants was to capture the special atmosphere that always accompanies this one of the warmest holidays, and convey this to the audience. Ivan Urgant said: "".
In one of the episodes of the film, Dmitry Medvedev appeared, who at that time was the president of Russia. After the premiere, the director was often asked whether the president himself knew that his New Year's speech was included in the film. Bekmambetov admitted: "". The fact that he was satisfied with the result was evidenced by his blog post on New Year's Eve 2011, where Medvedev wrote: "" (this is the phrase he uttered in the film).
Nowadays, Sergei Svetlakov acts in films quite often, and then he was still very careful about the proposals of filmmakers - the non-professional actor did not want to miss the mark by making his debut in a film that could put an end to his future fate in the cinema. It turned out that he was not mistaken with the choice. It was after this role that he began to actively act in films and, among other projects, took part in 6 more films, which became the sequel to "Elok".
From the first project Svetlakov expected the same as Urgant: "".
True, the huge success of the first film also had a downside - after that it was decided to shoot a sequel to "Fir-trees", and for this, from year to year, one had to sacrifice … summer vacation! After all, it was in the summer heat that the winter fairy tale was filmed. Of course, a lot of funny cases were connected with this, because in the middle of summer the streets had to be covered with artificial snow and white rolls, which confused the locals. Sergei Svetlakov recalled: "".
And Daniil Vakhrushev recalled how one day the shooting took place in the forest, where a group of men next door was grilling kebabs and drinking. One of them walked away and suddenly stumbled upon "another" forest - not green, all covered in snow. One can only guess what he thought at that moment. When Svetlakov was asked whether he was sad about the completion of the seventh film "The Last Fir Trees", he answered with a laugh: "".
After the Last Fir Trees came out in 2018, Timur Bekmambetov announced that after that the franchise would not cease to exist and would turn into a series with new characters. The director explains this decision as follows: "".
The fact that Ivan Urgant achieved considerable success not only on television, but also in cinema, many did not see anything surprising, because he is a representative of an artistic dynasty: Nina Urgant - 90.
