The brilliant work of Mikhail Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita" has haunted other authors for many years. They try to imagine how the events of the novel could develop further, or even transfer the characters to another time and other circumstances. We have collected information about six authors who announced their books as a continuation of the immortal work of Mikhail Bulgakov.
Igor Aronov, "An incredible bet, or the return of Woland"
Although the author claims that his book is not a continuation of the novel, his work contains Woland, who came to a simple journalist with a lucrative offer: to sell his soul to the devil in exchange for fame and a happy life. However, Denis Svetlov can refuse only if he is ready to say goodbye to this world. Woland quite seriously promises the hero death from an accident if the deal does not take place for some reason, and the Master and Margarita live in the Eternal Shelter, while the story of their existence is filled with mystical, and in some places and creepy, details.
Lyudmila Boyadzhieva, "The Return of the Master and Margarita"
The heroes of the sequel by Lyudmila Boyadzhieva also live in the Eternal Shelter. For many years they did the most ordinary things and received guests, but they both really missed the emotions that they experienced at the time of their meeting in Moscow. Woland, who entered their house, the Master and Margarita were able to persuade them to give them a chance for a second meeting. True, the condition was harsh: if they did not find each other again, they would disappear forever somewhere in eternal darkness. The boy and the girl were born in 1950, and now they have to go the way to meeting the love of their lives. At the same time, it is not known whether their fateful acquaintance will happen a second time.
Viktor Kulikov, "The First of the First, or The Road from Bald Mountain"
Love line, new heroes, long discussions about the meaning of life and questions of faith. The main line of the work is love, and the whole action takes place around a wandering philosopher and a harlot. The author allows readers to speculate on religious topics and trace the fate of Bulgakov's lovers in new conditions. Margarita turns out to be an actress, and the Master is a film critic.
Vitaly Ruchinsky, "The Return of Woland, or the New Devil"
Vitaly Ruchinsky's heroes find themselves in the very center of the Moscow events of the 1990s. The State Emergency Committee, the August putsch, the ball of tyrants, the confrontation between the ruling elite and the common people, all this was reflected in "The Return of Woland, or the New Devil". The author's style is very different from Bulgakov's and is more reminiscent of a satirical feuilleton, generously seasoned with criticism of the rulers. This work did not have much in common with the original.
Svyatoslav Supranyuk, "Leap into the void"
In the book of Svyatoslav Supranyuk, there are heroes not only of Bulgakov, but also of Goethe, and all the events that take place surprise with their uniqueness. However, Svyatoslav Supranyuk himself was not going to compete with the classics, but only invited readers to imagine how the life of the heroes could have developed in the realities of our time. Woland suddenly turns out to be an academician, Behemoth holds the position of executive director, and the main character is the son of Ivan Bezdomny and daughter of Annushka, who spilled oil.
Valery Ivanov-Smolensky, "The Devil's Last Temptation, or Margarita and the Master"
Valery Ivanov-Smolensky moved the representatives of the kingdom of darkness to the time of Pontius Pilate with a very clear goal: to find Jesus. And in Moscow, these same characters will have to fight with representatives of the NKVD.
Arnold Grigoryan, "Check visit"
This is probably one of the rarest books in our collection. Arnold Grigoryan, prose writer and screenwriter, in 1999 in the publishing house "Profizdat" published the collection "Check visit", which opened with a story of the same name. It was she who became the continuation of "The Master and Margarita", and the action took place in the 1990s. According to readers, Arnold Grigoryan managed to get as close as possible to Bulgakov's style, and therefore the book was recommended for reading. True, it is quite difficult to find it today, since it was released in a circulation of only 500 copies.
During theatrical performances and filming of films based on The Master and Margarita, certain events invariably occur, giving rise to rumors of mystical incidents with those who are trying to film it. Believe it or not, almost 13 years have passed since the release of the film, and the number of actors who took part in the filming and passed away during this time is approaching two dozen.

What books were burned in the squares by the Nazis, and How the fates of their authors developed
In March 1933, German Nazis began burning books by 313 authors. It was an official state event. Understandably, American or Soviet writers - or those who have long been deceased - felt neither warm nor cold from him. But what about the fate of the authors in the countries where the Nazis or their allies took power? Well, the correct answer: very differently and sometimes unpredictable

The origins of The Master and Margarita: Why Bulgakov is accused of borrowing, and in which novels there are similar characters
Some critics and researchers of Bulgakov's work believe that the novel "The Master and Margarita" is built on the ideas of foreign classics and philosophers. Upon a detailed study of the plot, one can indeed notice numerous allusions and references to Goethe and Hoffmann, observe the subtle intonations of Dumas, Dante and Meyrink. World classics, of course, could have inspired Mikhail Afanasyevich and to some extent influenced the "portrayal" of characters and dialogues. But it cannot be denied that the very plot of Mast
