The subway is a smart and graceful horse. Once he rushed faster than the wind along the racetrack, and now he goes for a walk around the farm at a slow pace. The new owner, Ron Krazewski, does not like the Metro, so the news of the incurable diagnosis of the animal simply shocked him. Over the years of training, Metro injured his knee joints, and doctors assumed that in a few years the joints would completely lose mobility, and the horse would have to be put to sleep.
Ron took this news hard and began to think about how to brighten up the last years of Metro's life. The way was found: Ron decided to teach the horse to draw. Ron himself is an artist by vocation, although he has mastered completely different professions for most of his life. He fished in Alaska and served in the Air Force, and only at the age of 40 discovered his talent as a painter.
Ron started teaching Metro. At first, he taught the horse to hold a brush in its teeth, and then to draw it across the canvas. Metro quickly mastered the lesson, he apparently liked the sensations, and he began to willingly spend time drawing. Ron jokingly compares the work of his ward with the drawings of expressionist Jackson Pollock. The creative method in both cases is based on a spray of paint. Of course, the horse does this unconsciously. Yes, and Ron does the work of an assistant - he gives Metro a brush, changes canvases, since they apply paint in layers after the previous layer has dried. This is how bright multi-layered abstract compositions are obtained.
Interestingly, the work of Metro soon attracted the interest of journalists, and then collectors. Art connoisseurs are willing to pay between $ 50 and $ 500 for Metro work. Until now, a couple of hundred drawings have been sold, and more and more potential buyers regularly contact Ron.
The metro draws a couple of times a week, it even has a "studio" equipped for this in the stable. The money raised goes to Metro's treatment, as well as charitable contributions to New Vocations, which is helping with the adaptation of former racehorses. Ron has already donated about 80 thousand US dollars, for this money 60 horses were helped. In addition, Metro also earned his own treatment: veterinarians tried to inject him with an innovative drug, and further deformation of the knee joints was stopped. So Metro won back a few more years of a happy life for itself!
