Murals Eduardo Kobra well known not only in Brazil, but all over the world. A talented street artist creates giant colorful images on the walls of houses, transforming the gray everyday streets. On the occasion of the start Olympiad the artist set out to set a personal record and painted a series of 5 portraits. A grandiose mural appeared in Rio de Janeiro.
The name of the mural - "Ethnos" (Las Etnias) - indicates the main idea of the art project. The artist created portraits of 5 representatives of different continents, which corresponds to the five rings depicted on the Olympic flag. As you know, the rings not only symbolize the unity of the continents, but also intertwine in the form of the letter "W" (that is, World - the world).
To create a huge mural, Cobra worked daily for 12 hours for two weeks. Everything about everything took more than 400 liters of white and more than 1600 liters of colored paint. Drawings adorned a wall in the port area.
On the official website of the Rio 2016 Olympics, Cobra talks about his project, specifying that this work is another challenge to himself. A muralist from São Paulo has long dreamed of a project of this magnitude, and finally he managed to realize his plan. Drawings from the "Ethnos" series are made in the manner characteristic of the master, Cobra is an adherent of bright colors and geometric shapes.
"Before you are portraits of representatives of indigenous peoples from different parts of the world. I created them in order to convey the idea of universal unity, because we live in a very difficult time when so many conflicts flare up on the planet. I want to show that every person on the planet is connected with each other, we are all one ", - such a pacifist message was put by the artist in a series of portraits.
The name of Eduardo Cobra is well known in the world; earlier he had already become famous as a mural in São Paulo. in memory of Niemeyer, a brilliant Latin American architect, and magnificent graffiti depicting Maya Plisetskaya in Moscow.
