New York artist Jason Peters is the author of stunning large-scale installations that seem to be cramped in the exhibition space. It is noteworthy that in the process of creating his extraterrestrial structures, Peters actively uses the most ordinary consumer goods. The artist literally gives new life to objects that have long been thrown away by the inhabitants of the big apple as unnecessary.
In addition to the contents of garbage containers, plastic buckets from utility departments, metal fasteners, wires, car tires, folding chairs are used … “Through my work,” says the artist, “I study the intellectual and emotional reactions of people to how objects interact with the environment. I urge the viewer not to be guided by past experience anymore and invite them to a special visual space where the mind is completely free."
It is curious that things taken out of the context of everyday life really begin to behave differently - it seems that unpredictability has replaced the usual stability. The artist further enhanced this feeling by adding even more expressiveness to the unusual structures with the help of light elements.
“I like to move away from the usual ways of thinking and seeing,” explains the artist, “my goal is to awaken the emotions that are deep inside. My works are like visual puzzles that I propose to solve."
Interestingly, there is a tendency among contemporary artists to use materials that have served their time for the manufacture of sculptures and installations. For example, a young American artist, sculptor and graphic artist, Crystal Wagner uses recycled materials to create her works. Often she finds parts for future installations right on the street, and sometimes she buys everything she needs in the cheapest stores.
