Alexey Pushkov, a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, in his Telegram channel commented on the news that Konstantin Bogomolov, artistic director of the Theater on Bronnaya, invited a transgender woman Natalia Maksimova to play in the production of "The Cherry Orchard".

The senator wrote skeptically: “Where is Bogomolov's“theater”without a transgender person. No way. This is a trend in the West. So our eternally secondary ones are enthusiastically copying new Western platitudes."

Pushkov is sure that this has nothing to do with art. It's just a desire to rekindle the hype.

Recall that on June 30, Bogomolov shared information that he had invited Maksimova to his new production of The Cherry Orchard, which will appear on the stage next season. The play will be staged by Mikita Ilyinchik, a graduate of the GITIS directing department last year. According to Bogomolov, his dream is to create an "advanced theater with TikTok" with healthy competition between actors and, as he put it, "creative airing."
