Kustodiev is an artist who brought back the conviviality of Russian painting. He often wrote festivities, folk holidays, either presenting a whole panorama of the event, then snatching out its individual participants. The painting "Christmas bargaining", painted in 1918, on the one hand, reveals the influence of impressionism, on the other, it reflects the artistic principles of the "World of Art" association, to which Kustodiev joined eight years before the creation of this work. The Christmas tree bazaar is an event preceding the holiday, fussy, everyday, but filled with the promise of a miracle. Kustodiev gives it a special theatricality. The silhouettes of the Christmas trees look like decorations, the motley crowd looks like an acting troupe, and the viewer is already ready to hear loud joyful music … Above the "stage" rises in the rays of the winter sun, the church, as if dissolving in the air - and it becomes clear why Kustodiev was called "Russian Monet."

She began to paint watercolors at an early age and, with the support of her family, achieved significant success in painting. The Grand Duchess supported the Imperial Society of Russian Watercolors and participated in the preparation of exhibitions. Her own works are a subtle and lyrical description of the life of the Romanovs in the Gatchina and Alexander palaces. Tatyana Eremina is a famous Soviet propaganda poster artist, student of Alexander Deineka. At the same time, she is a prolific and versatile graphic artist, and a large part of her work is book illustrations and postcards. Most of all, Eremina loved to draw children and everything connected with them - games, holidays, walks … The cheerful, strong and ruddy kids in her illustrations are the true embodiment of the ideal of “Soviet childhood”. "New Year's chores", watercolors, painted in the post-war years, immerse the viewer in an atmosphere of joyful pre-holiday bustle, warm family meetings, the joy of a common cause.

Alexander Dudin is a Russian artist, illustrator, professor at VGIK. I dreamed of being an artist since childhood. During his student years, he began to engage in illustration, and over the years of his creative career he created more than six hundred graphic works for print media. Dudin's illustrations could be found in hundreds of issues of the Roman Gazette, on the covers of the Adventure Library series, and many other science fiction and adventure books. He was engaged in painting in his free time from "magazine" activities. One of these works is a sketch with a decorated Christmas tree.

Elena Khmeleva's New Year is an idyllic scene reminiscent of childhood, evoking a feeling of nostalgia and light sadness.

Over the course of thirty years of his creative career, Vladimir Ivanovich Zarubin has created countless drawings for postcards, developed images of characters for Soviet animation. He was imitated, his drawings were copied … Fate did not indulge him, but in his drawings the artist created a whole fairy-tale world, so beloved by everyone - cute animals, busy with their own affairs in a pine forest.
