Ancient Egypt befell ten terrible calamities. Only at the tenth execution did Pharaoh surrender and release the people of God. How was it and what scientific evidence is there for all the events described?

The Bible is called the "Book of Books" not only because it is the oldest book on Earth. It is the most widely used and most read. This is the word of God, Holy Scripture in Christianity. In addition, this book contains a detailed history of the Jewish people. One of the most striking stories of the Old Testament is the exodus of the Jews from Egypt.

Passover is the main Jewish holiday and the most famous. Jews all over the world celebrate it, passing from mouth to mouth the story of the salvation of the Jewish people from Egyptian slavery. The story tells how the prophet Moses came to the Pharaoh of Egypt, asking him to release the Jews to celebrate their Lord's feast in the wilderness. The first execution

Moses and Aaron, according to the word of their Lord, turned the waters of the Nile River into blood. The fish in the river died out, the river stank, and the water in all the land of Egypt became blood. Historians confirm this event by the fact that at that time, in that area there were significant abnormal climate changes. The air temperature rose very much, there was no rain, a drought arose and the waters of the Nile became shallow. The river turned into a shallow muddy stream. There, the toxic bacteria Oscillatoria rubescens multiplied randomly. When these bacteria die off, they turn the water red during decomposition.

Pharaoh was not particularly impressed by this. This miracle was easily repeated by the Magi, and the Egyptians dug wells for themselves in order to get clean water.

The second execution

Seven days after the first execution, God commanded Moses that his brother Aaron stretched out his hand with a rod over rivers and streams, and brought the frogs out of the water. The invasion of frogs began. Researchers confirm this fact, calling it a consequence of the first execution. Frogs under unfavorable conditions, unlike very many other species, multiply intensively.

Frogs were everywhere. But the Egyptian Magi were also able to repeat this miracle. Pharaoh got very angry and even promised to let the Jews go if Moses prayed to his God to remove the frogs. But he did not keep his word.

The third execution

After that, an invasion of small midges fell on Egypt. They just seized both people and livestock. This miracle could not be repeated by the Magi and the Pharaoh became even more embittered. The scientific explanation for this square is simple: dead frogs were scattered everywhere and, naturally, this provoked the dominance of insects.

The fourth punishment was the invasion of dog flies. Insects tormented the Egyptians and their livestock. The book of Exodus notes that the executions bypassed the Jews. This showed them that God was protecting them, unlike the gods of Egypt, who were unable to protect the Egyptians from calamity. The researchers give this punishment the same explanation as the third - it was provoked by the numerous corpses of amphibians. After this, the pharaoh again asked for getting rid of insects in exchange for freeing the Jewish people, but again he did not keep his word.

Fifth execution

After that, the Egyptians suffered a total pestilence of cattle. Pharaoh was simply enraged that the cattle of the Jews were not affected by this disaster. He did not free the Jews, becoming even more bitter. Historians explain this execution by the fact that the proliferating insects, which, as you know, carry diseases, infected the livestock and began its mass death.

Sixth execution

This punishment is a continuation of the fifth. Now people began to suffer. The Egyptians had an epidemic. After all, blood-sucking insects can transmit such dangerous diseases as staphylococcus aureus, sepsis, anthrax. Everyone was amazed: both commoners and representatives of the highest nobility - the Magi themselves, which revealed their complete impotence. Pharaoh again refused to release the Jews.

The seventh execution

With this punishment, God begins the final, most cruel cycle of Egyptian executions. A fiery hail falls on Egypt. After this disaster, Pharaoh even offers to release all Jewish men, but Moses refuses.

Historians give several explanations for this phenomenon. It could have been ash clouds from a volcanic eruption. It could also be either a solar eclipse or a sandstorm.

Tenth execution

The most cruel Egyptian punishment is the death of all male firstborns. From the firstborn of Pharaoh to the firstborn of a prisoner sitting in prison. Death entered every house in Egypt. Unlike the previous nine, Pharaoh was not warned of the impending punishment. God performed this execution alone. After that, Pharaoh did not just let the Jews go, he asked them to leave Egypt.

The Jews were ordered to anoint the doorposts of houses with the blood of a lamb so that the Angel of Death would pass by. The lamb they had to bake and eat with the whole family. Unleavened cakes were prepared for the meat. It was this ritual that got the name - Easter. Passover should be celebrated by Jews in memory of their liberation from Egyptian slavery.

Historians and researchers explain this selectivity of victims by the fact that the first-born boys, as heirs, were given the first portion of food. The grain, after all the cataclysms, was affected by a poisonous fungus or mold. The Jews, who lived separately from the Egyptians, had their own supplies and this did not affect them. Scientists combine the ten Egyptian executions in three cycles, three punishments in each. The tenth execution is distinguished as a separate, final one. The first cycle marks disgust, the second marks pain, and the third cycle marks nature and universality.

Traces of all these disasters have been discovered and investigated by archaeologists in the vicinity of the ancient city of Pi-Ramses. This city was at that time the capital of Egypt and was ruled by Pharaoh Ramses II. After the events described, the city was abandoned by people.
