Many people are concerned about the situation with the spread of coronavirus, but there are also those who consider this an excellent opportunity for creative implementation. Why not, for example, an ordinary protective mask not become an original addition to a stylish look? Famous designers, and after them also simple craftswomen, did not miss the opportunity to come up with original models of masks, proving that even this purely protective piece of fabric can be used to make a fashion accessory.
It was the masks that became the hit of the recent London Fashion Week. Bright models were presented by the duo The Blonds: "medical accessories" created by designers Phillip and David complemented the images of their models, as brightly sparkling as their clothes. For example, the model's golden jumpsuit was in perfect harmony with the mask with sequins of the same tone.
A wide selection of medical masks was also presented by the Italian streetwear brand Off-White. There is a variant of the mask with and without a logo. There is a model with a cross. Well, the young brand Marcelo Burlon County Of Milan offered the fashionistas masks with their "calling card" - wings. Products with this print are already on sale, the wings are presented in several colors.
Note that all branded masks are sold at a fairly "biting" price. In terms of rubles, one piece will cost from 4 thousand rubles and more.
By the way, there were almost no Chinese buyers at the fashion week. Journalists from the Middle Kingdom could not come either. But the catwalk shows themselves were opened by the Chinese designer - Yuhan Wang. Viewers saw her first solo collection of Victorian waist jackets in floral prints and lace-trimmed outfits, accompanied by whimsical pearl jewelry. Wang did not suffer from the air travel ban, as she managed to fly to the UK in advance.
However, some foreign designers admitted that due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, they were unable to present their collections as they were originally planned. For example, it was not possible to show handicrafts in all its glory at Fashion Week, because factories in China were closed, couriers did not work, and as a result, the collection turned out to be not so interesting.
And the head of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush, said that one of the designers could not take part in the show at all, since his collection did not arrive from the East Asian country "due to logistical problems." Rush added that the number of participants this year has been significantly reduced due to the coronavirus outbreak and that the closure of transport links and the closure of factories in China is certainly felt. And all this will seriously affect the fashion industry.
Meanwhile, in social networks, both stars and ordinary users rushed to present their own creative masks to subscribers.
Yana Rudkovskaya, for example, published a whole series of photographs in different creative masks and even arranged a whole impromptu photo session on the street. “My black mask looked terrifying with my spring image and I glued three Chanel paper cameos in 30 seconds to somehow ennoble it before going to the show,” Yana shared with her followers on her Instagram.
The African TV and radio presenter, actress Folu Storms is not far behind Yana. At the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (an annual award for achievement in the field of television and film), she appeared in a stunning mask, adorned with iridescent stones, like her outfit. Back home, the TV personality wrote to her fans on Instagram: “Nobody really paid attention to my social calls to keep their distance, so from now on I will avoid large crowds! The party is over and everything is back to normal! Take care of yourself! Wash your hands and do not touch your face!"
It seems that ordinary people, and not only the stars, began to understand that wearing a mask is not at all a shame and this is not a sign of cowardice. A mask is both a demonstration of a responsible attitude towards oneself and others, and a way to be in trend.
Ordinary Russians, of course, cannot afford masks with rhinestones or sequins, but they also have the opportunity to express their individuality. Stylish reusable masks made of fabric with various patterns have already begun to appear on the domestic market, although they are mostly offered by small firms and individual dressmakers.
For example, on the Internet you can find on sale a set of three masks "Morning-Afternoon-Evening", which comes with two bags of different colors (one can store clean masks, and the other - already used).
And on the site of individual masters, creative dressmakers offer masks for babies, men, and stylish girls. The price range is very wide - from 30 to several thousand rubles for a fashionable and saving piece of cloth.
By the way, psychologists believe that wearing a mask is very useful. Although there is a constant debate about the effectiveness of using masks, the psychological effect is important here. Hiding during a pandemic from others behind such a "barrier", a person feels more protected and confident, and an optimistic attitude increases the body's resistance. Well, the passion for choosing and buying beautiful, stylish masks distracts from disturbing thoughts and becomes something like an exciting hobby.
