21st of June Valery Zolotukhin would have turned 75 years old, but three years ago he passed away. The difficult character of the actor often became the cause of conflicts with friends and colleagues, and even after his death, many could not forgive him for long-standing grievances. After the release of E. Ryazanov's documentary about Vysotsky everyone started talking about the fact that Zolotukhin "sat down" on his friend and was preparing to play Hamlet in his place. The actor himself was outraged by this interpretation of their disagreement and gave his own commentary on what happened. Obviously, it was too early to put an end to this story at that time.
Zolotukhin and Vysotsky really had a lot in common: for 16 years they worked at the Taganka Theater, starred in five films together. In 1970, filling out a questionnaire, to the question "Who is your friend?" Vysotsky replied: “V. Zolotukhin ". But in the friendship of two ambitious and talented actors with very difficult characters, everything could not go smoothly.
In 1987, E. Ryazanov's documentary film "Four Meetings with Vladimir Vysotsky" was released, which also tells about the theatrical works of the poet. The actors of the Taganka Theater recall their joint productions, including the play Hamlet, in which Vysotsky played the main role. Then he often traveled abroad, and the theater director Y. Lyubimov decided to prepare a second cast for this performance, offering the role of Hamlet to V. Zolotukhin. To the surprise of many, he agreed. Everyone knew that for Vysotsky this was a landmark role, and he could not refuse it. Everyone knew that he considered Zolotukhin a friend and did not expect such a trick from him. And although there are no accusatory intonations in Ryazanov's film, it was after this that they started talking about the fact that Zolotukhin had betrayed a friend, they called him an envious Salieri, etc.
As a result, the role went to Vysotsky, because the performance was created “for him,” and the conflict had to be settled there. The poet did not call it a betrayal, but, according to the memoirs of his contemporaries, he said that Zolotukhin “betrayed himself. He knew that he would not pull Hamlet, and took up this role. He would have spoiled her. Vysotsky himself at one time refused another role, believing that it ideally suits Zolotukhin.
After the release of Ryazanov's film, the entire Union took up arms against Valery Zolotukhin, which he could not forgive the director for a long time: “Eldar Ryazanov turned the 250 million Soviet Union against me. They promised me to etch my eyes with hydrochloric acid and kill the children, they sent used condoms in envelopes, a cry was thrown: "Put Zolotukhin on knives!" For what? For Vysotsky! " Zolotukhin said that the film was edited in such a way that it looks like an unambiguous traitor: “This is not slander, but just a cleverly edited version. Everyone seems to be telling the truth, but accents are placed at the request of the director."
Valery Zolotukhin had his own version of what happened: “It was like this. For family reasons, Volodya often left Moscow for different countries. Thus, he put production - that is, theater - in a certain dependence on himself. We were going to the festival with "Hamlet", and Lyubimov appointed me to the role of Hamlet for safety reasons. … We started rehearsing at a time when Volodya was not in the country. Everything went well, Lyubimov was pleased with my work. Then Vysotsky arrived and, upon learning that I was rehearsing his role, said: “Valery, if you play Hamlet, I will leave on the day of your premiere. The worst theater. " Knowing Volodya well, I did not take his threat, dictated by wounded pride, seriously. But I didn’t have to play Hamlet for purely technical reasons: Lyubimov would have had to completely reshape the finished production for me, built on Vysotsky’s individuality”.
At the same time, in an interview with Zolotukhin, when asked if he was jealous of Vysotsky, he replied: “Yes, he envied, but not pure, but the blackest envy that can ever be. I may not envy Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin himself as much as Vysotsky. " Nevertheless, Zolotukhin claims that they did not have a falling out and "the whole story is not worth a damn."
It is hardly worth looking for the right and the wrong in this story, thanks to her, both talented actors, with all their earthly passions and personal contradictions, become clearer and closer to the viewer. Devoted admirers of the poet often accused both his friends and his wife of not saving him, instead of trying to understand their position. Marina Vladi: life after Vysotsky
