Last year it was 25 years since the leader of the cult group Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, committed suicide. This happened at his home in Seattle. The official version of the incident was completely unambiguous, given the musician's lifestyle. However, there are many theories about what exactly led to this tragedy. Many believe that he did not do it himself, but that someone, to put it mildly, helped him. Convincing evidence of this version is considered the suicide note that Cobain left. The legendary frontman was born on February 20, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington. As a child, he was very modest and shy, one might even say a very reserved child. That is why he invented an imaginary friend Boddu for himself. It was much easier to communicate with a friend who does not really exist than with real peers. The strange friendship with a fictional friend went so far that it seriously worried Kurt's parents. They even went to a psychiatrist. The parents' worries were not in vain, the doctors diagnosed the boy with a serious diagnosis - manic-depressive psychosis. Kurt was on psychostimulants. Later he switched to illegal drugs.

In the end, when Kurt Cobain's uncle was drafted into the army, his parents told him that Bodda had been drafted too. A few months later, his parents told Kurt that Bodda had died in Vietnam. It did not help. Until his death, Kurt communicated with his imaginary friend and even addressed his suicide note to him and to no one else. In his musical career, Kurt Cobain wanted only self-expression, he did not need fame, it was maddening for him. He simply hated his main hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for its crazy popularity. The song was dubbed the anthem of the generation H. Cobain did not like it very much, he most of all did not want to be considered another pop idol. “I never craved for fame or anything like that. It just so happened, "- wrote Kurt in his diary. But it still happened to him, despite all his stupid outrageous antics, despite the fact that Nirvana had only three albums. His songs are relevant and popular even today. They live, and Kurt, unfortunately, no longer exists.

Maybe because of such a strange attitude to his own work, he fell in love with Courtney Love so much? They met after one of the concerts of his group. Courtney did not like the music and performance so much that she decided to convey her opinion to the knowledge of the frontman. She found Kurt and told him straight to his face that he was mediocrity. From this incident, their relationship began. After Courtney found out about her pregnancy, the couple got married. They had a daughter, Francis Bean Cobain, born in 1992.

In the photos with his daughter and wife, Kurt looks very happy. But, of course, no one knows what actually happened in his soul. Hard drugs, suicide attempts … Three weeks before his death, Kurt was in Rome, where he had a drug overdose incident. Two weeks before the tragedy, according to the police report from the scene, Cobain locked himself in a room with several pistols and a bottle of pills.

Two weeks before his death, his wife and friends persuaded Kurt to undergo drug rehabilitation. Cobain initially agreed, but could not stand a day - he ran away from the clinic. Courtney even hired a detective, Tom Grant, to find her husband. He searched the house, but did not look into the greenhouse where the singer had barricaded himself. It was there that the electrician Gary Smith discovered his body.

The police didn't understand the case for too long. It seemed that with such a baggage of delinquency, behavior and diagnosis, everything was very clear. The policemen treated the drawing up of the protocol as a mere formality. Other versions were not even considered. Moreover, a suicide note was found near Kurt's body. But many people still believe that everything is not so simple. Kurt's death could have been faked.

Tom Grant insisted on reopening the investigation because he was convinced Courtney Love was using him as a screen. At the same time organizing this crime. His words were echoed by Cobain's former lawyer, Rosemary Carroll, claiming that the note was a forgery.

Courtney vehemently denied these allegations. Singer El Duce of The Mentors claimed that Love tried to hire him for $ 50,000 as a hitman for her husband. In 2015, the documentary "Soaked in Bleach" was released, in which the creators make it clear that this was a brutal murder planned.

The widow herself strongly condemned the tape, sending letters to all cinemas to protest the slanderous film. The press published interviews with paramedic John Fisk and detective Vernon Gebert. Fisk said that he still considers the incident a suicide. Gebert was outraged that the producers of the film presented everything as if he agreed with the version of the murder, which is absolutely not true. The former homicide detective believes that a fairly thorough investigation of the case was carried out and real facts indicate that Cobain personally took his own life.

A huge number of questions, both then and now, caused Kurt's suicide letter. It was written in red ink and the pen pierced the middle of the sheet where it lay. What is written at the end of the note does not coincide with the main part of the letter either in handwriting or in style. Everything looks like it was added later. Aside from this incomprehensible final part, the letter looks like just a message to the group, where the frontman announces that he plans to leave. In the note, Kurt addressed Bodda, calling himself a gaunt, infantile complainant. Adding that he is "sad little, sensitive, unacceptable Pisces." Finally, he turns to Jesus with the question that he does not understand why he simply did not enjoy it all. Meaning, obviously, in view of life. But is this a suicide note?”Cobain expressed his gratitude to fans of his work. It can be seen from the text that he felt creatively drained. He writes: "I have not felt the excitement of listening and making music, along with reading and writing, for too many years." As for the performances, it was a terrible routine: “Sometimes I feel like I’m a chiming clock inside me. Blow - all I have to go on stage."

The most striking part of the note is its empathic accent. Cobain was deeply disappointed in people, in all of humanity. He loved and hated people at the same time. “I still can't get over my disappointment,” he wrote, “the guilt and empathy that I have for everyone. There is something good about all of us, and I think I just love people too much, so much that it makes me sad.”The most heartbreaking passage concerns his little daughter Frances, who was only a year old at the time. Cobain explained, "I can't come to terms with the idea that Francis will become the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I have become." The note ends with the words "I love you" repeated in large letters.

It was only after Kurt's death that everyone realized how deeply unhappy he was. His mind was dull with heroin. He ended his life with a shotgun. For his friends, this was the end of the band. Courtney Love hosted a commemorative event with musicians from Nirvana and even Kurt's longtime friend Chris Novoselic, an event that turned Kurt Cobain's success into a tragedy and a legend. As in many legends, the truth is open to interpretation. Not only different speculations and versions breed us on this soil, the story became the basis of two documentaries. Both films cast doubt on the singer's suicide version.

Regardless of what is true and what is not, the death of Kurt Cobain destroyed other lives, most of all the lives of the people he loved. His daughter Frances Bean, now 27, talked about how she copes with it all. She said that it had a huge impact on her entire life. People support Francis, tell her that they are inspired by her struggle. And it helps her a lot to resist her own demons. Whatever it was, no matter what crazy versions were put forward about the death of Kurt, one thing is clear - this emphasizes the enormous importance of communication and mutual understanding. People who go astray should know that there are those who will support them and will not let them fall. After all, life is precious.
