Electronics is killing mechanics - computers are replacing typewriters, and smartphones - corded telephones … In order to somehow use old devices and not throw them into a landfill, the artist Gabriel Dishaw creates amazing sculptures, for example, dedicated to a series of films "Star Wars".
Various artists have long mastered typewriters to create their new works. For example, Federico Pietrella uses them to paint pictures, and Gabriel Dishaw creates unusual sculptures.
A new series of sculptures from Dishaw is dedicated to the iconic space saga about "Star Wars", launched in the late 1970s by director George Lucas. In these works, the artist depicts the most famous and colorful characters from the films mentioned, such as Darth Vader and the C3PO robot. Of course, these characters were chosen precisely because their sculptures can be easily constructed from parts of old devices such as a typewriter, keyboard, aircraft parts, and even chips from long-obsolete computers.
Gabriel Dishaw's Star Wars series consists of three works. The first sculpture, called Samurai Vader, is a bust of Darth Vader, made in the traditional Japanese style, as if we were not facing a formidable warrior of the space age, but a samurai in armor.
The second sculpture, Pygmy, shows the C3PO robot, stylized as a pygmy tribe living in the equatorial forests of Africa. Instead of short, curly hair, however, he has keys from old keyboards and typewriters.
The third work in this series is called Air Vader. It depicts all the same Darth Vader, but old computer chips and … sneaker laces were used as materials for its creation.

In the official historiography, Yaroslav the Wise for a long time appeared to be an almost sinless ruler, the creator of legality in the Russian lands. In our time, he is already accused of sending several of his brothers to the next world in order to occupy the Kiev throne. But was it only the desire for power that drove Prince Yaroslav? If you look at the history of his family, then everything that happens is more like revenge … to his father. Bloody revenge for bloody atrocity
She did not promote the Germans, did not ruin Russia, did not leave the course of Peter: what is Anna Ioannovna accused of in vain?
Anna Ioannovna, niece of Peter the Great, went down in history with a terrible image. For what they just did not reproach the second ruling queen of Russia: for tyranny and ignorance, craving for luxury, indifference to state affairs and for the fact that the dominance of the Germans was in power. Anna Ioannovna had a lot of bad character, but the myth about her as an unsuccessful ruler who gave Russia to be torn apart by foreigners is very far from the real historical picture
Owl and all-all-all: interesting paintings by Kathleen Lolly about forest dreamers
As a child, future artist Kathleen Lolly loved to wander through the woods near her grandfather's farm. Who does she drink tea with in the evenings? For example, a raccoon is a successful businessman, but what does an owl do for a living? Each animal in the stories of the little inventor received a funny biography and acquired habits. And until now, when Kathleen Lolly wanders through the same forest, she does everything
