Video: Stone Drawings: Contemporary Miniatures
2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-12-15 23:55
Painting stones has become a popular way to embody artistic ideas. Most often, craftsmen work with acrylic paints, performing realistic images of animals and plants. A contemporary French artist decided to combine traditional stone painting with modern graphics, and now creates laconic miniatures.
The new works are very different from those that the author drew on plain paper. The rough rough surface, the small size, the inability to correct the mistake made his work more confident and graphic. DZO Olivier performs painting stones using conventional waterproof markers of various thicknesses.
On the stones DZO Olivier depicts illustrations to legends and myths, ancient animals, exotic reptiles. All drawings are imbued with a fabulous atmosphere that evokes pleasant emotions in the viewer.

Exhibition "Free: Contemporary Art After Frida Kahlo" ("Unbound: Contemporary Art After Frida Kahlo")
Frida Kahlo is one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to women who changed the history of visual arts. The fearless surrealist has acquired an almost mythical status. At times, the amazing story of her life even overshadows the glory of her paintings, although, of course, they cannot be separated
Gulag on miniatures. Scary "eyewitness drawings" of the guard Danzig Baldaev
The Gulag, the network of "correctional labor" camps that sprawled across the entire Soviet Union, has not existed for decades. However, the memory of him is still alive in the memory of people. Including, thanks to numerous works of art, such as, for example, drawings by Danzig Baldaev - a series of illustrations that in an accessible form tells about the horrors of the penal system of Stalin's times
Not an entrance, but a gallery of contemporary art: unusual drawings by the Moscow self-taught artist Dmitry Bochkarev
Who among us does not remember the legendary address "3rd Stroiteley Street, 25, Apartment 12"? The story of how Zhenya Lukashin confused the St. Petersburg and Moscow apartment on New Year's Eve, not seeing the difference in faceless high-rise buildings, is known throughout the post-Soviet space. But if we were talking about a Moscow house in which the artist Dmitry Bochkarev lives, then such a curiosity would clearly not have happened. Our compatriot creatively approached the process of "ennobling" his entrance and turned it into a bad one
Houses made of stone and in stone. The stunning city of Monsanto
Houses made of stone - barely hewn, preserving the natural harmony of a piece of rock - will never become obsolete. And although they cost many times more than those built using modern technologies, there are still people who are ready to pay for a real style with money or labor. And the most unusual and picturesque houses made of stone are in the Portuguese town of Monsanto: for hundreds of years local residents have attached their houses to huge boulders, and as a result, they have created a real harmony of stone
Contemporary art from Konstantin Zolotarev. Contemporary Christian art or icon painting style
The icon painting style created for the depiction of saints and Christ is aimed at displaying a different reality. Therefore, in the icon, the portrait resemblance of a saint to a person who actually lived once is not in principle, since it reflects a transformed person who is in the upper world. But after all, the saints once lived on earth, they were like us, they ate and drank and had practically the same problems as modern man
