Some two weeks ago, the whole world was amazed at the scale and absurdity riots in London and other English cities, set up mainly by first and second generation emigrants. In response to this, a collective photoblog Photoshoplooter, whose participants are trying to rethink the events that took place in the United Kingdom.
We have already talked about how the riots in London affected culture, namely, the work of cartoonists. Today we will tell you about their reflection in the work of active Internet users. After all, almost any event in the world becomes an object for the so-called "phobojab" - images corrected with the help of Photoshop, which after these changes become humorous. And recent events in British cities have spawned a whole community called Photoshoplooter (a symbiosis of the name Photoshop and the word “looter”, “marauder”).
Members of this community, a collective blog, take photographs of the pogroms in London, which appeared on the news feeds of news agencies, and rework them, add humor, absurdity to them.
After all, these events in themselves are already very absurd! Recall that they began after the police shot a black criminal who was shooting back at them. After that, residents of poor areas (overwhelmingly, emigrants) shouting: "They are beating ours!" they began to smash houses, government agencies, plunder shops, and burn cars. Moreover, all this is in the areas where they themselves live.
What was happening seemed incredibly absurd for the whole world, which is natural! It is this absurdity that the members of the Photoshoplooter community decided to emphasize and exaggerate. They remake photographs of events so that the people depicted on them steal not electronics and other valuable things, but something completely absurd, for example, Kaa the boa constrictor from Mowgli, pandas, SpongeBob, etc. Among the participants you can see the characters of the Sesame Street puppet show: Elmo, Kermit the Frog and others.
The participants in the pogroms in London and other English cities behaved in an infinitely absurd manner. And the members of the Photoshoplooter community have elevated this absurdity to the level of art!
