Small private business is the basis of any strong capitalist economy, the basis of the well-being of people and the nation as a whole. This is well understood by the authorities of the city of Orlando, who ordered the artist Bill Starke large-scale sculptural compositiondedicated specifically small entrepreneurs.
In Russia, in recent years, two monuments to shuttle traders (small entrepreneurs of the 90s who travel to Turkey, China and other countries for cheap goods) have been opened at once - in Voronezh and Yekaterinburg. Small businesses are also respected in the United States of America, where a sculptural composition called Our Journey recently appeared in Orlando (Florida).
This composition appeared on the new office and production building of the Amway corporation, and is dedicated to the distributors of the products of this company participating in the network marketing system, and indeed to all small American entrepreneurs.
After all, the very name Amway is an abbreviation for American Way of Life, American way of life. So Our Journey is translated not even as Our Way, but as Our way of life. The composition of Our Journey consists of eight sculptures depicting people in full growth, who climb the stairs to the top. Moreover, these ladders are not always reliable, strong, and do not always lead somewhere in the right direction.
Some of the sculptures climb these stairs, overcoming obstacles that have arisen on their way up. One sculpture looks at them from below, only wondering whether to climb there. And one figure stands at the very top and, apparently, symbolizes a person who overcame all difficulties and achieved success.
The sculptural composition Our Journey, created by Bill Stark, is a monument to American private business, small entrepreneurs who are trying to reach the top, starting from the very bottom, it is a monument to the American Dream, based precisely on private initiative, hard work and the ability to overcome all the obstacles that have arisen on road to the cherished goal.
