If you find yourself in Twinsburg, Ohio in August, you may not believe your eyes at first. Almost all oncoming passers-by will be … at least two copies. But this is not a hallucination: it really is one of the biggest twin forums in the world.
It is logical that the largest twin forum in the usa takes place in a city named after the twins ("twins" in English). Twinsburg got its name thanks to the useful activities of the brothers Moses and Aaron Wilcox, who in 1819 offered the city 6 acres of land for the city square and $ 20 for the first school, on the condition that the settlement would be renamed the "city of twins."
And they had a reason for such a proposal: the owners of the local hotel, the Wilcox brothers, were so similar all their lives that even close relatives confused them; their wives were also twin sisters, they had an equal number of children, and the brothers died on the same day from the same disease. This is how Millsville became Twinsburg.
In this iconic city in 1976, the first forum of twins, which had only 37 pairs of people. However, every year more and more people came, and not only twins. Now more than 3000 couples (triplets, fours) are going to the forum, who stay at the Wilcox hotel. Guests play golf, take part in talent shows, twins parade and some pair competitions. In general, nothing special. What attracts such crowds of twins there?
The main incentive is the desire to meet and communicate with those who are like themselves: after all, twins are still not quite ordinary people. And surely many of the couples would like to get to know each other with far-reaching matrimonial intentions. After all, if twins marry twins, then such a family will not be easy to destroy!
