Berlin-based artist Katharina Grosse is radically transforming the landscape through which Philadelphia's main transport routes run, with a series of seven installations of flashy flowers placed along the commuter rail line and seen mostly by passengers passing by trains.
In the project called "Psychylustro", the artist used her signature technique - spray paint. So she paints selected objects in acid tones: the walls of abandoned warehouses, small houses and islands of greenery. The windows of a moving train become the frame for a large-sized piece of contemporary art, experimenting with scale, perspective and linear temporal perception.
Grosse explains that her work "changes your perception of size through movement in such a way that when you stand in front of it, it looks huge, but when you pass by on a train, it becomes small." “It is this feeling of the constant changeableness of life that has always fascinated me,” adds the artist. - This time we have an additional tool - the train. In the museum, walking is your only way to get around. You can fly here."
