Sculptor Mihoko Ogaki (Mihoko Ogaki), in order to explore the cosmos, which, in his opinion, is hidden in every person, creates rather eerie installations within the cycle called "Milky Way - Breath" (Milky Way - Breath). With the help of blinding LEDs, the stooped figure explodes into a thousand stars.

Judging by the name of the sculptural cycle, it can be assumed that Ogaki draws a parallel between the eternal flow of the Milky Way - the galaxy in which we live - and the process of human respiration. Macabre depth to the concept is given by the fact that the people, whose figures Ogaki depicts, seem to be on their last legs - some of them just look old and jaky, others are clearly writhing in death throes.

The dying people that Ogaki sculpts occupy their own rooms as part of the exhibition. If you turn on the light in it, they will seem just realistic sculptures, no more and no less. It is worth turning it off - and the viewer will notice the insane illumination, which is the essence of the project. Paradoxically, death in the dark, according to Ogaki, opens "the way to the stars."

Unlike other Japanese sculptors, whose work is already familiar to readers of Kulturologia.ru - for example, Hirotoshi Ito and duet Paramodel- Mihoko Ogaki does not joke with his viewer, but retains an extremely serious expression on his face. His work, according to some critics, "clothed naked human emotions in physical form." The presence of Ogaki in the same room with the glowing half-dead is quite capable of causing discomfort in the viewer; you will not understand whether the sculptor wants to convey something with the help of a shock effect, or simply tries to be remembered with all his might.
