The photographer was convinced that people are not in vain call the North the Extreme Sasha Leahovcenco, having been on an expedition to Chukotka. The trip took place within the framework of the project "Help-Portrait"bringing together photographers from all over the world. The main goal is to introduce photography to people for whom modern technology is still an inaccessible luxury.
Taking a photo for us is a trifling matter: a camera, mobile phone or webcam is enough. But for the inhabitants of Chukotka, advanced technologies are something from the realm of fantasy. That is why a group of daredevils, armed with everything they need, set off to look for villages in which strangers rarely visit. Photographers traveled a thousand miles to get to one of the original settlements.
Sasha Lyakhovchenko's project was named "People Living at the End of the Earth" … The photographer managed to capture the northerners in their everyday life, and immediately after filming - to give the resulting portraits to local residents. For most, this is the first photo in their life, which, of course, is very touching.
Sasha Lyakhovchenko admits that the project was a real discovery for him, because it is a great opportunity to see the life of people living far from civilization in harmony with nature, an occasion to rethink the question of true human values, to look at the world in all its diversity.
Sasha Lyakhovchenko is a young and promising photographer. By birth he is Moldovan, in his youth he was fond of sports and became the winner of many European Taekwondo competitions. In 2007 he moved to the USA, California, where he still lives. In the arsenal of the photographer there are many interesting pictures, they can be seen on his personal website.
