We remember Vera Altayskaya very well for the colorful and memorable images that this characteristic actress has brought to life. True, in most of her main roles a bright and beautiful woman for some reason is not a princess at all: a witch, a stepmother, Baba Yaga … In her youth, Vera was distinguished by amazing beauty, which her acquaintances called in one word - "witchcraft." Perhaps that is why she managed to get the “main prince” of our country, Alexei Konsovsky, as her husband. However, the artists did not succeed in maintaining this relationship for a long time, because the character of Altai was matched to beauty - also truly witchcraft.

Vera Vladimirovna was born in Petrograd in 1919. The name of her real father has always remained a secret - the mother did not share it with her daughter even when she was already grown up and could probably understand everything already. However, her stepfather, the famous writer Konstantin Nikolayevich Altaysky-Korolev, became Vera a truly dear person. When the girl was 8 years old, her adoptive father was repressed, and he spent most of his life in camps and exile. Fortunately, this did not affect her daughter's career in any way. The family moved to Moscow, where the young actress with great inclinations graduated from the acting school at the Mosfilm film studio and immediately began working at the Studio Theater. The beginning of her career was quite successful. In 1939 - his film debut, the first small episodes. It seemed that there were very few left before the main roles, but the creative destiny is sometimes very winding.

Of course, like every young actress, Vera Altayskaya wanted to play beauties and princesses. It would seem that the girl's appearance is perfect for this. Fifty years later, the third wife of Alexei Konsovsky in her memoirs will remember Vera's real "witch beauty": a wasp waist, a shock of brown hair, an incredibly daring look. The actress had a rare feature - heterochromia - one eye was green, the other brown.

She really played the princess from "The Swineherd", but for some reason, the matter did not go further than small episodic appearances in the cinema. It is possible that the reason was the frenzied temperament and sharp tongue of the young actress. The directors, according to contemporaries, were simply afraid of her. However, in his personal life, everything seemed to be going well. Colleague Alexei Konsovsky fell in love with her without memory and made an offer. A keen mind and unusual beauty made Vera Altai unforgettable and attractive … However, living with her, as it turned out, was not easy.

The years before the war were happy for the young acting family. In 1941, they had a daughter, Svetlana, in the 40s Konsovsky and Altayskaya often starred together: "The Sailor's Daughter", "Mashenka", "Lermontov". However, the beauty did not wait for the main roles. The details of this difficult period in the life of Vera Altayskaya are not very well known. There is evidence that during the war she gave concerts at the front, was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War." But in the first years of peace, difficulties began in the family. Alexei Konsovsky in 1947 became that very golden dream of the entire female sex - the prince from the fairy tale "Cinderella" is considered his brightest role in his entire creative career. But Vera Altayskaya at the same time stopped filming so much that she decided to leave the cinema forever. In the theater, the talented actress found everything that she lacked in the cinema: the main roles, the love of the audience, and fame.

When the daughter was 9 years old, the family broke up. Here, of course, one cannot blame one of the star spouses. From the scattered recollections of contemporaries, one can judge that the characters of both actors were strong and “explosive”. In addition, according to some reports, the "main prince" was never completely indifferent to the wave of female attention that fell on him. Alexey Konsovsky then managed to create a strong family and find a woman with whom he lived until old age, but all this happened much later. According to his third wife, a break with Altayskaya became inevitable largely because of Vera's problems with alcohol, so her daughter left with Alexei after the divorce.

She no longer played princesses, but the roles of fairy witches began to turn out to be unforgettable. This "witchcraft talent" was discovered by our great storyteller Alexander Row. Auntie-bad weather in "Mary the Craftswoman", Asyrk in "Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors", the daughter of Baba Yaga in "Fire, Water and … Copper Pipes", stepmother from "Frost" - now everyone already knew the characteristic and unique actress. Altayskaya starred in 7 of the last 9 films by Alexander Row. True, Vera Vladimirovna briefly outlived her "most important director" and practically did not act without him.
