Video: Why do they want to ban Gauguin and Johnny Depp, and what other celebrities can be rejected for ethical reasons

In 2019, 50 works by Paul Gauguin were exhibited at the London National Gallery. The canvases were collected from all over the world, and the exhibition was to become a major event in the art world. However, besides the paintings of the great master, visitors were greeted by obsessive information that many of the girls depicted in the paintings of the "Tahitian Cycle" were the artist's underage mistresses. On the basis of this, people were called upon to abandon the work of Gauguin. If we continue to reason in the same spirit, then the art world may soon become significantly impoverished, because many of the great creators were not without sin, and some were real criminals. This review contains the stories of artists and artists whose work can be safely discarded for the sake of modern tolerance and scrupulousness.
Johnny Depp
A dirty scandal that threatens the career of a famous actor broke out because of his ex-wife. The couple divorced back in 2017, but now, for some reason, details of domestic violence have surfaced, which Amber Heard began to tell newspapermen about. In November 2020, Depp lost his libel case in court. The court found that he really beat his wife, and immediately after that the actor lost his important role for him Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
The actor did not hide the fact that he was forced to leave the film at the request of representatives of Warner Bros., and he simply had no choice. The world has split in two. Ardent feminists support the unfortunate victim, and Johnny's team collects signatures in his defense. The question of whether the personality of a creative person should influence his career has arisen before us thanks to this story in all its ugliness. Historians began to recall other examples when great creators turned out to be not ideal husbands and citizens.
Caravaggio
The reformer and founder of realism in painting is a textbook example of the combination of genius talent and a penchant for violence. During his life in Rome (from about 1600), Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio painted most of his most famous canvases on biblical themes. However, at the same time, the 30-year-old artist led an extremely riotous lifestyle: clashes, fights, constant fines and small "jails" in local prisons accompanied the painter throughout his life. He could hit with a sword a person who spoke badly about his painting or wrote funny poems about him. Wealthy patrons have always pulled the presumptuous genius out of trouble, but once they could not.
On May 28, 1606, in Rome, on a ball game field, another scuffle took place, in which Caravaggio brutally killed a young man from a noble family close to the Pope. Paul V declared the artist "outlawed". The killer himself was seriously wounded, so he hid for a long time, and then fled from Rome. True, this incident did not correct his character. In Malta, he again ended up in prison, this time in a stone sack, and by some miracle escaped from the terrible cell. Until the end of his life, the artist wandered. On the day when he nevertheless waited for a pardon, Caravaggio died and did not have time to return to Rome.
Killer artists
It is difficult to say whether the talent is associated with a disregard for the laws or it implies a hot temperament, but among the famous painters there were many people who committed murder: the Italian artist Andrea del Castagno, who worked during the Renaissance, according to legend, killed his friend (or, according to another version, a fiend father); the great Titian was accused of poisoning his main rival; Benvenuto Cellini stabbed his brother's killer, then attacked a notary and fled, later he killed another man who spoke ill of his work; Richard Dadd, a gifted Victorian painter, killed his father, but it is true that the young man suffered from schizophrenia.
Mole geniuses
If today they began to condemn Paul Gauguin for having an affair with young Tahitian women, then many celebrities from different eras could get on the same bench with him. Fra Filippo Lippi - one of the most prominent masters of the early Italian Renaissance committed a double crime. Being himself a monk, the artist seduced and kidnapped a young nun from the monastery. Then he married this girl and with the help of his noble patron Cosimo Medici got out of trouble, but the public in Florence was shocked by this behavior.
Famous Austrian Expressionist Egon Schiele served a short term in jail for corrupting minors and distributing pornography. True, pornography meant the canvases of the famous painter, and corruption concerned his too young models, therefore today it is customary to justify the luminary of painting by the fact that he simply loved to paint naked young bodies, but, nevertheless, today he would not have got off so easily.
Paul Gauguin spent his childhood in Peru and, perhaps, that is why he was always drawn to hot exotic countries. Disappointed in family life and trying to find new sensations, Gauguin left for Tahiti and established a life there that suited him. It is difficult to judge whether a great artist today can be accused of a crime against the laws of another time and another culture, but today they are trying to do it. Western feminists from the Me too movement launched a large-scale campaign against the painter for marrying a 13-year-old Tahitian woman and having children by others. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Nikas Safronov commented on this situation:

Why did the Germans want to kidnap Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill, and why they did not succeed
The plan to kidnap the leaders of the "Big Three" states could be called an adventure, if not for the punctuality and scale with which the Germans were preparing for the operation. One thing the German leaders did not take into account before the "Long Leap" - the activity and awareness of Soviet intelligence, the coherence and scale of their secret, but effective work. Thanks to the timely detention of SS saboteurs and the arrests of German agents, the USSR special services managed to disrupt the operation already at the first stage it was completed
Why did they want to cut Andrei Mironov from the movie "An Ordinary Miracle" and other little-known facts about the 6 best roles of the actor
We recently celebrated another anniversary of the wonderful Soviet actor Andrei Mironov. In each of his roles, he brought a piece of his soul, because he sincerely believed that his creativity gives people moments of happiness. “When a person smiles, laughs, admires or compassions, he becomes cleaner and better,” the actor shared his thoughts. However, not every viewer knows that some of the roles played by a favorite artist could have received a completely different embodiment, and some films even
Anonymous "letters of happiness": Who writes them and why, what they are about and where they can be found
Stories about how people accidentally find messages from unfamiliar well-wishers always sound exciting. And if in an adventure novel such a letter usually sails by sea in a sealed bottle, then nowadays it is more prosaic - a letter can be found in a book, under the wallpaper, on a chair in a public building, or just on a closet. But a family from Brisbane (Australia) found a "message to an unknown destination" in a recently purchased trailer. True, the author of the letter introduced himself

8 celebrities who can be mistaken for homeless on the street: Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp, and more
We are accustomed to the fact that at social events the stars always look flawless, demonstrating a luxurious life, and it seems that in ordinary life they are always dressed upright. But in fact, many of them in everyday life, on the contrary, try to merge with the crowd, choosing outfits that do not correspond to their status. Perhaps they do this in order to get rid of the annoying attention of the paparazzi and fans. Or, tired of the spotlights, they make a choice in favor of comfort. Nevertheless, once again the
