But his work in the last years of his life is unique - the program "To be remembered", which tells about the great actors of the past who were undeservedly forgotten. In August 1993, work was interrupted. The actor was recovering from a stroke, but then again experienced a critical condition and almost died. As he himself later recalled, his life was saved … by a little granddaughter. From the words of the actor, the editor of the program "To Remember" Irina Simushina told us about this case.
“This period was insanely difficult for him,” she recalls. - Leon said that after the operation, his granddaughter Olya saved his life. She came to his hospital all the time. And so they went for a walk in some kind of hospital garden. She was small, she walked slowly and kept saying: "Grandpa, wait, wait!" This is "wait!" he was saved. Because in difficult moments of illness, this word sounded to him like “Don't go away!” Leonid Filatov dedicated his last poem to her - his granddaughter Olya.
