Sergei Nasibov literally woke up famous after the release of the film "School Waltz", where he played the main role. After such a successful debut, he did not act in films too much, devoting himself to the theater, and then left for the United States altogether. Nothing has been heard about the actor for almost thirty years. What made Sergei Nasibov fly overseas and did he manage to achieve his "American dream"?
Before and after School Waltz
He was born in Sukhumi, where the father of the future star worked at a closed defense enterprise. Sergei Nasibov recalls with nostalgia his childhood, which passed between Sukhumi, where he lived with his parents, and Tbilisi, where he spent all the holidays. And he also dreamed of the time when he would be able to leave for Moscow and become an actor, act in films, and appear on the stage.
It seems that he did not even think about the fact that there is always a huge competition for theatrical universities. Sergei just went after his dream and was able to enter VGIK from the very first attempt. Already in the first year, he got his debut role in the cinema, which glorified him throughout the Soviet Union. Looking at the hero of the young actor Gosha Korablev, who treacherously abandoned the charming Zosya, expecting a child from him, it is impossible to imagine that the shooting was given to Nasibov with great difficulty. He was desperately shy, and the pressure of the director on him, a first-year student, was colossal.
Pavel Lyubimov was generally a rather tough and very demanding director. True, many of the actors who had already starred with him did not pay any attention to this, resigning themselves to the manner of the film's creator. But for Sergei then everything was new. When the shooting was over, Sergei, despite the glory that had fallen on him, wanted to say goodbye to his film career altogether, believing that he was doing everything wrong.
After the release of the film on the screens, viewers were sure that the actors who played Zosya and Gosha in the film also had an affair in their lives. But at that time, Sergei Nasibov was already firmly in love with Catherine, the daughter of the famous actor Lev Durov, who became his wife and gave birth to a daughter, Katya.
As Ekaterina Durova later admitted, this marriage was too early and stupid, and therefore fell apart quickly enough. The first wife of the actor does not hold grudges against her ex-husband, although they broke up solely through his fault because of the flared up romance of Sergei Nasibov and Natalia Gundareva. Ekaterina Durova admits: if she were a man, she would also not be able to resist the spell of a woman like Gundareva.
Nasibov left his wife for Natalia, the actress, because of her lover, who was 10 years younger, left her husband, Viktor Koreshkov. But the relationship did not work out particularly well. As the actor himself admits, the years spent with the famous actress were incredibly happy. But he, due to his own youth and inexperience, was able to appreciate this only after a long time, when nothing could be fixed. He led a riotous lifestyle, devoted too much time to parties with friends and did not at all look like an exemplary family man.
Sergey Nasibov and Natalya Gundareva lived together for only three years, and after that each went his own way. As it turned out later, the actor's road led across the ocean.
American dream
The actor did not plan to completely move to the United States, he just went overseas at the invitation of his friends. And unexpectedly for himself, he decided to stay. According to the actor, nothing kept him: the family broke up, he broke up with Natalia Gundareva. And in the profession at that moment he no longer saw prospects. He simply did not leave the feeling that he was not doing his own business.
True, his life in America was not at all cloudless. With the acting profession, as it seemed then to Sergei Nasibov, he said goodbye forever, and in the USA he began his career from the very bottom. He worked at a construction site, then was engaged in the sale of cars, served as a manager in a sports club. Gradually got out of poverty, even was able to open his own real estate company.
At first he lived alone, and a few years later he met his future wife, also a Russian emigrant. Vetta's first husband was a pawnshop owner, who died in front of her from a gangster's bullet, and his relatives simply kicked the girl out the door.
They had absolutely nothing for two, but the lovers were not afraid of difficulties, they just started life from scratch. Together they acquired housing and some kind of property, raised their daughter Nastya, and later acquired a house in California. Sometimes the actor came to Russia to his parents, but the thought of returning to his homeland did not visit him.
It seems that Sergei Nasibov at that time forgot about his profession. And in 2009, a phone call rang at his house and he was offered to star in the film "Ruslan", together with Steven Seagal. Nasibov accepted the offer and played the role of a bandit in the film. This was his first film work in twenty years. Maybe it was at that time that he began to think about his move back to Russia. But he made the final decision after his marriage to Vetta broke up.
Be that as it may, in 2010 the actor moved to his homeland and again began to build his artistic career. He was immediately accepted into the troupe of the RAMT, introduced to several performances. Since 2011, Sergei Nasibov again began to actively act in films, in nine years he played about 24 roles in films and TV shows.
He again, as in the distant 1988, began his life from scratch. Only now he is trying to build it taking into account the mistakes that were made in his youth.
When in the late 1970s. director Pavel Lyubimov started shooting the film "School Waltz", almost the entire film crew doubted that the film would be released. The topic was very "slippery" - the love story of tenth graders was not chaste, moreover, the film had such plot moves that it was difficult to imagine in Soviet cinema before! What angered critics and mature audiences the most, and why did "School Waltz" receive scandalous fame?
