Frunze Mkrtchyan, or simply Frunzik - one of the brightest actors in Soviet cinema. National glory and love surrounded him throughout his life. On the screen, he joked and radiated endless energy, but when the cameras were turned off, a smile was rarely seen on his face. The tragedy that crossed out his whole life was the illness of his wife and son.
Despite his innate acting talent, Frunze did not immediately get into the cinema environment. In his youth, he worked at a factory simply because there was no money to study at the university. Frunze's mother was a dishwasher, and his father was a simple timekeeper who was once caught stealing. And the theft was symbolic: in the hope of earning at least some money for food for the family, Mkrtchyan tried to steal a piece of cloth. This crime cost him 10 years of his life, it was to this term of imprisonment that Frunze Mkrtchyan's father was sentenced.
After several years at the Frunze plant, he nevertheless decided to get an acting education, he graduated from the institute in Yerevan only at the age of 26. Initially, Mkrtchyan starred in a cameo role with Alexander Row, and this was followed by a fateful invitation from Georgy Danelia. The picture "Thirty-three" was warmly received by the audience, and "Mimino" replenished the golden fund of Soviet comedies. Chauffeur Khachikyan became a popular favorite, and his statements immediately scattered into quotes.
Frunze starred with another legendary director - Gaidai. In "Prisoner of the Caucasus" he played the role of the main character's uncle Nina. It is worth noting that Frunzik's wife, Danara, also participated in these filming. The actor was happy to work with his beloved woman, but at the end of filming, the unexpected happened. At first, Danara developed unreasonable jealousy, and only after consulting a psychologist, it became clear that she had serious mental health problems. The verdict of doctors finished off Mkrtchyan: his wife has schizophrenia. After some time, it became known that the disease was inherited by their son. This news completely changed Frunze's life, not a trace remained of his former enthusiasm, he rarely appeared in films, they say that at night he often wandered around the city in order to be alone with himself and his thoughts.
The last project in which Frunze showed interest is the creation of a theater in Yerevan. It seemed that he perked up and saw a new purpose in life, but fate decreed otherwise. On the eve of the new 1994, Mkrtchyan died of a heart attack, after a while the theater began to work without its founder.
