If you do not like noisy beaches and advertised tourist sites, look for peace and quiet, then a better haven than a lonely house built in the middle of the Serbian river Drina, simply cannot be found on the entire planet. A tiny haven that gives coolness in the summer heat and staunchly fights against the autumn winds - for more than 40 years this house has been a symbol of the fact that nothing is impossible for a person.
The unusual house was built in 1968 by a group of guys who were looking for a place where they could not only sunbathe, but also relax. Having noticed a rock not far from the coast, they overcame the distance by swimming and rested on it. Soon, several boards were transported there to shelter from the scorching sun. The next year, the walls and the roof were completely erected, so that a real hermit house appeared on the rock. They used boats to deliver the materials they needed, and floated large planks downstream.
Of course, for a long time almost no one knew about this architectural wonder, except for local residents from the town of Bayina Basta, located nearby. The house gained worldwide fame after photographer Irina Bekker placed his image on the pages of National Geographic magazine. Immediately curious tourists from all over the world flocked to the Serbian Tara National Park, on the territory of which a tiny house was built.
By the way, the house on the Drina River has experienced many trials over the years of its existence. It was repeatedly destroyed by strong winds and waves, but the locals were sure to rebuild it again. Today, the house can rightfully be considered a symbol of human perseverance and perseverance.
