It's no secret that many professional photographers enjoy making portfolios of their children. American Tyler Orehek recently presented a series of vintage images inspired by the culture of the 20th century. His son and daughter, Tyler and Lauren, took part in the project. Authentic antique props, stylized outfits, elaborate composition details - all this distinguishes wonderful retro portraits.
Tyler Orehek easily manages to transfer the viewer to another historical era, and the guys in the pictures look completely grown-up, like actors, getting used to roles that are unusual for them. In his photographs, we can see the hotties bathed in luxury in the 1920s, the American survivors of the Great Depression, the funk and groove and roller skaters that emerged in the 1970s. When Tyler started working on the project, his son was three years old and his daughter was two. Despite such a young age, the kids perfectly conveyed the spirit of the era, so the pictures are characterized by an amazing combination of innocence and maturity.
The author of the project says that he did not set himself the goal of duplicating already existing vintage photographs, he wanted to convey the mood, sensations, emotions that people experienced during this historical period. Attention is focused on the clear opposition between childhood and adulthood, so that viewers can reflect on what professions were in demand (for example, the collection contains images of a sailor, watchmaker, museum worker, etc.). It is extremely important for him that children do not play a role, do not distort the image in accordance with their wishes, they only embody the author's idea as accurately as possible.
