Elena Shumilova Is a talented Russian photographer from Andreapol, the author of a series of charming photographs of her sons. The photo cycle tells a touching story of the friendship between children and animals.
Speaking about her photo cycle, Elena emphasizes that she wanted to capture childhood as it is - real, with embarrassment, surprise, dreams: “Many of us want to remember not only how we looked at the age of five, but also what we thought about, what they played, how they looked at the world. In the pictures you can see boys playing with dogs, rabbits, cats, ducklings and other animals. Beautiful country landscapes, soft lighting, an atmosphere of warmth and serenity - all this is inherent in the works of Elena Shumilova.
The photographer emphasizes that the secret of her success lies in her love of natural light. Street lamps or candles are her favorite light source, in addition, Elena loves experiments with fog, smoke, rain and snow, since all this also gives a special emotionality to the images.
Elena Shumilova began photographing her sons, Yaroslav and Ivan, relatively recently, in 2012, when she bought the first professional camera, and since then the boys have become her favorite models. The 32-year-old mother is sure that her children will grow up to be empathetic and kind, because communication with wildlife always brings us joy and teaches us care and empathy.
By the way, if the childhood of Russian kids is spent with chickens and rabbits, then African children are not averse to playing with the wild inhabitants of the jungle. A striking example is Tippy Degre, a Mowgli child who grew up among leopards, elephants and other predators.
