For several years now, gardeners and adherents of the “green guerrilla” have been using Flower Grenades, which carry not death and destruction, but the seeds of various plants, as well as soil and fertilizers for them. And the artist and photographer Fong Qi Wei showed the world what would happen if the flower itself was used as a bomb.
In the Exploded Flowers photo series, Fong Qi Wei showed the exploding flowers of various plants, such as sunflower, gerbera, hydrangea, different types of roses, and so on.
Of course, when creating these works, the artist did not put a small explosive charge inside the bud, in order to detonate it later and fix the result. He just carefully disassembled the flowers and laid out their contents in the form of circles, very similar to the dials.
Fong Qi Wei invites us to admire the refined beauty of flowers in its smallest details. After all, we are used to looking at blossoming buds as something whole. And a Chinese artist deconstructs them, showing that the flowers are still beautiful when disassembled. Their thin lines, graceful beauty and maximum thoughtfulness once again prove to us that nature is the greatest creator, to the level of which even the most ingenious people can never reach.
