These items are excellent souvenirs and always arouse interest, smiles and cheer up buyers. The author of these drawings is a famous French celebrity - a talented French cartoonist, illustrator, painter and sculptor Albert Dubois (1905-1976).
The name of this artist, who lived in the middle of the 20th century in France and created a huge number of paintings and graphic works, sculptures and illustrations, a multifaceted person who looked at the world through the prism of good irony and cheerful humor until the end of his life, unfortunately, in our time, few people know …
And this is in contrast to his famous graphic creations, which have outlived their author for many decades and have already become legendary. Thus, the series of humorous cartoons "Cats" and "Spouses" are known almost all over the world.
A few words about the author
Artist and cartoonist Albert Dubout was born in 1905 in Marseille. He studied at the Lyceum of the city of Nimes, then at the Montpellier Academy of Arts. His first drawings were also published in Montpellier in 1923. Subsequently, he created illustrations for books, posters, posters, and was engaged in sculpture. In his younger years, Albert also dreamed of becoming a bullfighter and participating in bullfights, but the artist's talent outweighed his desire to kill bulls. Apparently, therefore, very often in his works the artist used the images of these animals in his very amusing plots.
The series of his funny drawings about cats are very positive and saturated with the artist's personal relationship to these creatures. By the way, he loved his cat so much that only his pet Kiku was allowed to enter his office when he was working.
Currently, many things are being created based on Dubois's cartoons: from napkins to figurines that fill the shelves of souvenir shops in France and some Western European countries. Mostly, in these things, the theme of cats is pursued. Although, the artist captured various animals and, of course, a person in his funny pictures.
Funny cats and mice can also be seen on the realistic paintings of a Taiwanese artist who gives a sea of positive emotions to fans of her work.
