Sometimes life is very unfair: because of allergies, you deny yourself the pleasure of stroking animals, eating peanuts, honey or strawberries, loving flowers, but because of the same allergy you cannot smell them … White paper garden created in Nagasaki (Japan), a Swiss designer Anouk Vogel, is designed for just such an audience. It is not for nothing that the installation of origami flowers is called very symbolically: Folding for Peace … World peace, happy people, good weather and never fading, never dying flowers are an example of the ideal life that everyone dreams of. The Folding for Peace art project, an installation of hundreds of white paper flowers, was inspired by an ancient Japanese legend that guarantees health, happiness in life and personal life for those who practice the art of origami folding. However, the legend spoke specifically about paper cranes, which are made from paper for the sake of the desire for world peace. And the paper garden is designed to help people with allergies enjoy nature, flowers and good weather. It would be nice to turn off the sense of touch, so as not to irritate the allergy sufferer with the smell of pollen.
The garden of white paper origami flowers won the Silver Medal and Judges' Special Award at the World Festival of Peace and Flowers. You can see this work, as well as get acquainted with the rest of the works, on the Anouk Vogel website.
