Alessandro Gottardo is the author of stunning illustrations. They are rather laconic in execution, but each of them has a deep meaning.
This Italian artist creates under the slogan "the idea always wins the style", while noting that he works "not with his hands, but with his head." “My paintings are, first of all, messages, messages through which I communicate with the viewer. Style becomes outdated, only the idea is eternal,”explains the artist.
Born in the Italian town of Pordone, Gottardo studied illustration at the Istituto Europeo di Design, which is rightfully considered one of the best design institutes in Milan. Soon after graduation, he began to work in his specialty, choosing the pseudonym Sashimi. However, the artist was destined to become famous under a completely different name. In 2005, he chose the resounding pseudonym SHOUT. Coincidentally, from that moment on, his career took off.
Today, Alessandro is a renowned illustrator working for major publications such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. He has received many prestigious awards and medals, such as the Society of Illustrators and Society of Publication Designers medal, which he received in 2009.
Gottardo's minimalist work convincingly proves that illustration can and should be simple. No gimmicks, no clutter, no color frills. His work is different - laconic and deep, inspiring and thought-provoking. Like a sculptor cutting off everything unnecessary from a piece of marble, Gottardo creates his little masterpieces.
The works of the young artist Rafael Alvarez differ significantly in style from the illustrations by Gottardo, but they also make us reflect on our life.
