Video: How retirees challenged beauty experts and why they gave up on "prudent old age"

We tend to associate older people with gray hair: this color is a symbol of wisdom and gravity. However, not everyone, as it turned out, chooses "prudent old age." Someone chooses more - magic, madness and bright colors. As soon as retired Patti Smid published on the Internet the result of her bold experiment with a hairdo, grandparents from all over the world immediately responded to her challenge. And they showed that there are a lot of them - owners of multi-colored hair. And they do not care about the opinions of others.
Patti Smead has dyed her hair red since 1988 and has never changed the habit to this day. But in the end, she got tired of it, and she decided that she needed a change. And her son (by a happy coincidence - a master colorist-cosmetologist) agreed to help.
Patty's hair can now be seen in six different colors: blue, dark blue, magenta, purplish green, green and pink, as well as some “fragments” of her originally discolored, light shade.
To “lock in” the result, on August 12, Smid tweeted a few photos of her recently dyed hair, commenting on the post: “I'm 74 years old, and they did this to my hair today, and you know, I love it! Write what you all think about it and be honest! My profession forced me to be conservative all my life, and I could never do anything like that!.
Patty's tweet went viral instantly with hundreds of thousands of likes, and this is the best user response she could get. The retirement's courage inspired older people to be frank. And they, too, began to share photos of their bold hairstyles, reminding the young: never stop experimenting, and if you haven't done so yet, do not be afraid of anything and feel free to go to the hairdresser.
By the way, the editors of the foreign Internet blog Right Hairstyles recently stated that women over fifty should be guided by the principle “An authoritative older man should look solid” when choosing the right hairstyle and have a few rules in mind. So, experts recommended that retirees comb their curls back, revealing their faces. “Overly shaggy hairstyles can seem sloppy and awkward,” beauty bloggers categorically declare, “Bangs are okay, they make you look younger, but at the same time, make sure that they are neat and thin or laid to one side so that your forehead is not completely covered.
With regard to hair color, experts say: “Choose lighter shades of hair - and you can easily remove years from your face. Some older women look very attractive with silver hair, but if graying doesn't suit you, go for colors ranging from brown to blonde or highlights."
However, as brave grandmothers have demonstrated in their photographs, these guidelines (like most beauty tips) are not at all strict rules. Experts only recommend, but do not impose their opinion. At least elderly red-haired and blue-haired rebels will certainly not listen to any "experts". Moreover, Internet users in the comments support them in every possible way and shower them with compliments.
Eli Nelson is 52 years old and her hair was pink before. And now she dyed her strands in 12 colors. And she thinks it looks amazing.
“I think it looks cool! I'm 78 and did it with my hair last Thanksgiving,”says Rebecca Marler.
And here is what one young girl wrote in a commentary on her photo: “My 72-year-old grandmother and I dyed our hair some time ago. Now we have returned to our natural color, but walking with pink hair was great! I really liked it!
Sarah Berg is 62 years old with tattoos, an extravagant hairstyle of bright colors, and a cigarette in her teeth. And she has nothing to do with the opinions of others. In addition, she behaves so confidently that hardly anyone dares to criticize her.
Another Rebecca, a young grandmother, dyed her hair purple when her youngest child graduated. And I didn’t regret it either!
“Last week, my 11 year old kid talked my mom into dying her hair blue,” shares user Courtney. And after all, the child was right: blue strands are very good for an elderly mother!
By the way, not always such a radical change in hair color in old age is just an excuse to drastically change your life or express yourself. For example, Karen Bultman dyed her hair with meaning. “Blue is prostate cancer, purple is Alzheimer's, pink is breast cancer, and red is AIDS. These four colors represent the four charities that I support,”the elderly woman explained.
I wonder if there are many pensioners or pensioners in Russia who have done so radically with their hairstyles? Probably a lot too. By the way, it will be no less curious to learn about eight famous women, who changed their lives after 60 years, among whom, by the way, is our compatriot.

How the Third Reich recruited Soviet soldiers and military experts: What they scared and what they offered
Wanting to speed up their victory, the Germans had a plan to use Soviet prisoners of war for this. To recruit Red Army soldiers in the camps, any methods were used - from intimidation by hunger and backbreaking work to the processing of consciousness with anti-Soviet propaganda. Psychological pressure and hard physical existence often forced soldiers and officers to go over to the side of the enemy of the Red Army. Some of them became excellent performers and killed their people. And some after the disembarkations
How "someone else's age was seized," and Why in the old days there were so many old beggars
Memory is arranged like this: the further the past, the brighter it was, kinder and dearer to the heart. This works not only with individuals, but also with nations. Everyone, for example, is sure that in the old days grandparents were treated with special respect. But the popular print crumbles, it is worth reading the classics of literature and ethnographers: it was not so simple in the old days with the old people
When in the old days they gave up their own name and chose a new one
Taking a new name means changing one's destiny. From time immemorial, peoples and tribes believed in this, which were not connected in any way, did not exchange rituals and myths - they simply felt the special role that a person's name plays in his life. Those who want to change their name today, in the 21st century, have something to rely on - there are plenty of traditions associated with this, at first glance, formal action
Hiroshima-chic: How Japanese Feminist Rei Kawakubo Challenged Western Ideals of Beauty and Conquered the Fashion World
In 1981 in Paris, fashion critics competed in the poisonousness of reviews of the first collection of the Japanese designer: "Hiroshima-chic!", "Post-nuclear fashion". They did not shy away from the opportunity to refer to tragic events in Japanese history. The war really affected a whole galaxy of Japanese designers. In the 80s, they conquered Europe and the United States with their disturbing and gloomy collections, and the brightest star in the sky of Japanese deconstructivism was Rei Kawakubo
What is point Nemo, why they could not find it for so long, and when they found it, they were scared
The most surprising fact about this conditional point in the World Ocean is probably the very fact of its existence. It was possible to calculate the ocean pole of this inaccessibility thanks to the calculations of the engineer Hvoja Lukatele from Croatia. According to them, point Nemo is closer to people in orbit than on Earth. It is Lukatele who is considered the discoverer of point Nemo
