The fate of some design creations is rather sad. Girls succumb to a sudden impulse, buy a new dress and … forget about it. As a result, the novelty remains hanging in the closet. And there are clothes that cannot be worn because they are cut from marble. Every fold, every frill in the stone wardrobe is reproduced with such precision that it seems weightless.

The author of the marble collection "Identity" is Alasdair Thomson, a sculptor from Edinburgh (Switzerland). It was he who asked his friends to donate one favorite thing from the wardrobe, each of which he subsequently recreated in stone. The artist wanted to show humanity that marble is so multifaceted that in skillful hands it can turn into a female nude sculpture, and into a strict pedestal, and into a light sundress.

Alasdair Thomson received his degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2004. After that, he studied as a sculptor at Senese Scuola Edile in Siena in 2010, and three years later received the Audience Award at an open exhibition at Edinburgh's Royal Scottish Academy.

Most of all, the artist likes to work with marble, subordinating the unyielding material to his irrepressible imagination and turning it into works of art. No less talented, according to critics, are the works of the sculptor Kevin Francis Gray, who became famous for his marble sculpture "Mourning on pointe."
